Friday Smiles 378: playing catch up

It's Friday, so let's join Annie (at A Stitch in Time) along with the wonderful ladies at Friday Smiles.

I'll start with a few funnies I found on the internet.

Now for my ICADs this week.  I created a series of hearts:

You make my heart sing

I love you because you ARE different.

A magic heart

I'll take hope any day.
And since it's the end of the month,

here are all the ICADs for June.

Happy Birthday Canada!

Drain me.

Wrong song, too!
Please let me know if you like any of these latest Altered Index Cards.

Now it's time to share my calendar pages for June and July.

For those who like to read minutia and those who like to laugh at my very, very boring life,

I give you my completed June calendar.

July ready to write in.

And finally, as much as I hate to combine challenges, here is one for Try it on Tuesday's challenge "Create a scene."

This spread was created in my new Scraps altered book.  Already I'm having issues with this book I chose because it is too small.  Each page is 5.5 X 8.5 inches (13,97 X 21,59 centimeters).

Those of you living in the states will surely recognize at least one of these places.

All of these iconic sites are found in the USA.

For this spread, I began by laying down dye ink direct to paper (DTP).  I was surprised how pink the red turned out in the words "Sights across the."  I had more green backgrounds than red, white, and blue, so used those on the opposing page.  All images came from various travel magazines.  All mats were paint chip samples I've had for years, and need to use or get rid of.  The words were computer generated, then colored using dye ink.

Thanks for your visit today.  I appreciate it, as does Bleubeard.  Don't forget to visit Try it on Tuesday and check out how others have Created a Scene.  Let's also head over to Annie's because she knows how to put a smile on everyone's faces.  And whatever you do, please don't forget to start your weekend off right with a few Friday Smiles of your own.  And remember, if you would like to play along, Annie will welcome you just as she did me many years ago.

Well, Trump is definitely a joke, just not a funny one. Let's hope enough people find their brains and vote for a good president this time! Lots of lovely ICADS. And nice scrap pages, thanks for joining us with your scenes at TIOT. Have a great Friday, Valerie

I go with Valerie on Trump. I fail to believe he really is that dumb!
Love your works! And I copied you, too! Hope you don´t mind! I got my first silicone stamps and used them in my calendar, too :-) They make me smile!
Best card? I love the one with the "different" heart. Strong message these days. Years. Ever and always.

Trump is so easy to make a joke of. I sometimes feel he needs to engage his brain before he opens his mouth because he makes such a fool of himself.
I love your cards this week.
Hugs,

Terrific icads ~ I like how you can show them all in graph form at the end, it really makes for a fun recording of your art. Where are the dock houses located in the picture on the left? I would love to stay there for a weekend retreat? Looks like Martha's vineyard or somewhere on the cape?? Enjoy the weekend!

Hello Elizabeth,
You have been very busy. I hope this month I can do a tenth of what you do in a day. So nice to see your new Icads with all your different ideas. My favourites are the second and the fourth ones, the second because of the sentiment and all the hearts with The One Different, and the fourth because it is so pretty and fresh and has fine words.
I do hope your eye is getting much better. Do let us know how you are getting on with it.
Thanks for you visit to Orange E. after my long absence. Your comments are never too late and always welcomed so much because they come from the heart.
Love,
Sheila

Wow, such a wonderfully action packed post! The ICADs are beautiful especially "you are always in my heart", the design is perfect 😀. I'm loving your calender pages, the Eiffel Tower stamp is gorgeous and the stars are very fitting for July too. You captured such beautiful scenes on your journal pages - thanks so much for joining in the fun at Try it on Tuesday! Thanks for the smiles too, the funnies were great! Happy Friday and weekend! You didn't mention your recovery from the eye injury -- I hope it's going well. Your funnies are cute! Where do all these things come from?

I admire your creativity.

There is so much to look at and read today. First of all let me say thanks for sharing your sights across the USA with Try It On Tuesday. I like this spread, and seeing all those sights. Makes up for not really seeing those sights this summer. And I enjoyed all the ICADS too. I like the under/over the rainbow one and also the drain me. That (Drain me) would be a great journal page for AJJ this month. At least because that's what the heat does to me. Nice calendar too. And your cartoons are too funny this week. I love the line for the noise cancelling headphones. And also Purebull. I had to show those to my husband. Enjoy your Friday. Cloudy and humid here. Hugs-Erika

Hi Elizabeth, busy lady by the look of it. Well done for keeping up with the calendar journal and loving the ICADS too. I get the feeling you don't like Mr Trump very much and you are right neither does the Private Eye from what I've seen them print. I will try and get round to scanning some of their reports on him, I'm sure you will enjoy them. Mum says thanks for the birthday wishes too. Have a lovely weekend. Hugs, Angela xXx

Love the giggles, and your scenes are iconic. But I’m a late bloomer...what is an ICAD?

Well I could appreciate your funnies this week. I am constantly amazed at the things Trump says with apparently little contradiction, and some folks when interviews still think he is God's gift to America. Not that we can shout. I am very glad I am distanced from my homeland as England's leader can be just as obnoxious, and apparently stupid!
You have been very busy with your art work this month. I like the ICADS, especially the 'different' heart. The journal pages confuse me a bit, but they are just not my style. We all see things differently. And I admire the endeavor involved.

Love your ICAD's and cool take on the theme

You made me chuckle with those funnies. Unfortunately Trump constantly makes a fool of himself. It's almost not funny anymore.
I assume your post has been scheduled as you do not mention your eye injury. I do hope that means things are going well.
Lovely ICADs, and the scenes from the USA are great.
Have a good weekend and 4th of July. Hope your eye gets better soon.
Take care,
Lisca

Ah...ICAD, index card a day, perfect, thx for the explanation. Sort of like ATC only bigger and no swapping. OK, got it. I like your ICAD June display, especially the kitties, so cute. Is that a stamp? Also, wondering what do you do with these little artistic treasures? The hearts are sweet, and your words “You make my heart sing” immediately got the oldie song “Wild Thing” playing in my head. Lol!

Wow... Elizabeth.... what a rude comment you left on my blog... I never would have thought that of you... I'am overwhelmed with trying to finish the remodel on this house ... driven by a husband that has no 'off ' button... I rarely have time to get on the computer and when i do i have to carefully chose how i decide to spend my time on there.. and no your blog was not high on my priority list... sorry.... I do not join your tparty because i know i do not have time to go around and visit everyone so for me to join in would be rude.. And now after that little comment you left i have no desire to... deb

Fun assortment of cartoons and a great collection of ICADs. I admire that you’ve been able to keep up the commitment. I wouldn’t have been able to keep up. So brava. Take dare and enjoy your weekend.

Great new bunch of ICADs - of course you know I love hearts too! I love the first one with the music - so beautiful!! And thanks for taking time to wish Canada a happy birthday. :). I may recognize those stamps. :) The one with the rainbow made me laugh. Great pages in your journal too. I always love seeing your calendar. Maybe when I retire I’ll try to start one of these again. For now my calendar must live on my computer. The cat stamp on June 3 is great! It reminds me of Kliban’s cats - maybe it is?

Outstanding funnies today, Elizabeth. Lots of good out-loud laughs! And I just love it when you work with hearts. Part of it is the hearts, which I love. But I also find you do such terrific things with them to make each unique. Happy weekend. I hope everyone's ears survived.
