T Stands For Half and Half

First, I want to apologize to everyone for not visiting sooner.  I also want to wish all you mothers out there a belated happy Mother's Day.  I further want to note that I missed wishing everyone a wonderful VE Day on May 8.  That's the day Europe ended the second World War.  I'm still not feeling well, but hope to visit as soon as I can sit at my computer for more than a few minutes.  Many of you will be delighted this post is so much shorter than the ones I've shown the past two weeks.

I learned some time ago that many of you who don't live in or visit the states, have no idea what half and half is when I say I use it in my coffee.

Jan, who is half of The Low Carb Diabetic team called it "light cream" and said that's what it's called in England.  It's certainly fattening, but I love it.

Also on my table is a belated birthday gift my foodie and good friend Sally left on my front porch a few days ago.  This is a wonderful and thoughtful gift,
because I love these no-longer-issued postage stamps I can use to send to people the world over.

Now that I have shared my coffee cream and bounty, it's your turn.  By now you probably know the "rules," but in case you don't, please show something drink related. It can be photos, a place you visited, movies, tea cups, coffee mugs, a tea or coffee service, postcards, books, magazines, sketches, mixed media, drawings, paintings, tags, ATCs, scrapbooking, or other art that is digital, hybrid, or traditional, as long as it in some way relates back to a drink, any drink.  Please share below and Bleubeard and I, along with the rest of the T gang will be by to visit.   Please link only your T post and not your blog in general.  Old photos are acceptable because they may be taken any time, not just on Tuesday, and not just this year.

Thanks, too for understanding if I don't leave my usual detailed comment when I visit this week.  Please believe it's only because I'm thinking about climbing back in bed with my two heaters and motorboats (aka Bleubeard and Squiggles) which sadly is tied to my health (and lack of it).

I"m sorry you're still not feeling well :( but hope you're better soon.

I see half and half a lot when people have coffee, but I take my coffee black.

I hope you feel better soon! I buy older unused postage on Ebay ~I love it too! What a nice present. I'm a non-dairy girl now and drink almond and coconut milk ~ Not the same for sure! Blessings and well wishes sent your way!

You take it easy my dear friend. That's the only way you will get better. We understand. I'm very thankful that you were able to post a T-Party at all!
Thank you for showing Half & Half. No I had not heard of it, other than you mentioning it. I'm sure it tastes lovely. The other interesting thing is the measurement. 946 ml. What a strange amount. I hadn't realized that you use imperial in the US as well. I assume a quart is a quarter gallon.
Oh those stamps! What a wonderful present from Sally! I just love them! You lucky girl!
I hope you feel better soon,
Give Bleubeard and Squiggles a hug from me,
Lisca

So sorry you have not been well Elizabeth.... I do hope you are feeling a bit better and will soon be 100% again. My hubby uses half and half in his coffee- I prefer and use 1% or fat free. But when we 're out and they only have those tiny cups of half and half I'll use it- cuz it's better than black coffee in my eyes;)
So sweet of Sally to leave you such wonderful postage! I know you will put it to good use. Take care, get well, and happy T day!

Glad you feel a bit better and please no apologizing, blogging is fun, not work, right?
Ha, but with that milk you got me confused.
I remember in the 70´s they used "Kondensmilch" and looked that up. But wiki says in English it´s called Evaporated milk!
"Light cream"?! oh, LOL!

Wow, those are stamps! I have a friend in Perth who loves stamps, so I collect the few stamps I get - who gets snail mail these days - and she´s always happy when I bring them.
Not even booked the flight yet. Who knows when we can visit others again...

To a fully and speedy recovery on your side!!! xx

LOL, P.S., my blog-title is about pizza, not milk. :-)

It was good to read that you are feeling a little better, looking after yourself is important so please take care.
I was interested in the 'half and half', I'm not sure that I would call it light cream here in the UK. Your description of it being half milk, half cream explains it well and as long as you enjoy it in your coffee that is good. Don't think I would use it in my tea.
The stamps looked amazing and it was such a thoughtful gift.
Happy T day wishes.
Stay safe.

Dear Elizabeth, so sorry to hear you aren't well, hope you soon recover.

My Dad would treat us on a Saturday morning when we were kids to what he called half and half coffee, we didn't drink much coffee as it was only the chicory liquid coffee but he would boil half milk and water in a pan and he would whisk it up so it ended up frothy, that was a rare treat in those days, LOL

Take care

I hope you feel better soon Elizabeth. It's kind of funny how we have different terms for the same (or similar) things in different countries. Torch instead of US term flash light. Frock instead of US term dress. I enjoy half & half in my coffee, too. It was sold out in the grocery stores during the first week or two of the covid-19 panic buying.

I do hope you feel better soon, do give yourself time to heal and get better.
That was a very nice gift from your friend Sally.

Many thanks for the shout out to the low carb diabetic blog, it's amazing the different terms many countries do have for quite a range of things isn't it.

My good wishes.

All the best Jan

Your explanation is amusing -- Half N Half has been familiar to me since childhood so it wouldn't occur to me that it needed explanation. I hope you get over your illness quickly and that it doesn't turn out to be worse than a cold!

be well... mae at maefood.blogspot.com

Elizabeth, I LOVE half and half in my coffee! I need to be careful though, or I use more half and half than coffee! I hope you are doing better. If you are up to it, please send reply about this.
I think I might want to dabble in art journaling using the little book I made (its on my blog). I don’t have a theme though. Do I need to have a theme to take part in Art Journal Journey?

Glad you're feeling a little better Elizabeth.
I do see the "Half & Half" in American recipes, and I had looked it up before.
Beautiful stamps :) I collect stamps but just from the 5 countries I have lived in (I gave up all others, as it was too much) and I would love to send you some pretty stamps for your collages, just let me know your address please (samidotvelosoatgmaildotcom)

I'm so sorry to hear you are unwell - I really hope that you are starting to feel a little better now. I was about to apologise too for my lack of visiting. I plan to be back to do some proper catching up very soon. I'm a huge fan of Half & Half - it's one of the first things on my shopping list when I'm doing one of my work stints in the States... yum!

Take good care of yourself, and stay safe,

I rarely use cream of any kind unless a recipe calls for it and I'm told often hald and half serves quite well. I'd say Sally deserves a big thank you!
