Home

Today I'm working in my Stress Free altered book.  By now you probably know Bleubeard and I are hosting Art Journal Journey this month.  That means I have a new Heart altered book spread to share with you.

In case you can't read my lousy handwriting, it reads "Home is where my heart is.

I tried to make the words look a bit like clouds.  Don't laugh. Instead, use your imagination, please.

I also drew the houses.  Have I not mentioned I can't draw?

That became painfully obvious when I tried to draw the tree.

Both of these homes are filled with love.

The tree

is also filled with love in the form of heart shaped leaves.  Note the heart that has been "carved" into the tree trunk.

For this spread, I stated with 110 lb card stock I first colored, then cut to 5.5 X 8.5 inches (13,97 X 21,59 centimeters) and added to the altered book to hide the very boring book page behind it.  I used watercolor pencils to draw the houses, roofs, and part of the grass.  I used water soluble crayons to draw the tree, part of the grass, and the sky.  I did a bit of stamping on the one of the houses, but some stamping shows better than others.  All hearts were stickers of various sizes.  The small hearts in circles (tree and leaves) were so old they had lost their ability to stick, so I used a glue stick to add them to the tree.  I cut "clouds" from what was left of the card stock and hand wrote the sentiment.

Bleubeard and I are utterly delighted you joined us today and we hope to see you at Art Journal Journey with your own interpretation of Hearts.  I'm absolutely positive your heart inspired art will be far better than what I created today.

I do not laugh, never think of that in art!
And if every window was a heart, ohhhhh - and door, of course! And tree, and life!

I feel tempted to take pics of the lille love-things we have hanging in our small condo!
(Despite I got a "don´t sneak under my leg!" tonight, just to have a heavy man´s leg on mine! ;-)... Men > logic, nada!)

A house filled with love is always something good, and your house, clouds etc were all easily recognisable as such! Have a great day, Valerie

No need to be able to draw realistically. I have trouble drawing and painting realistically too. I get past it by calling my art “Impressionism”!
Your style of drawing and painting is also reminding me of Folk Art. So well done!

This is a fun page and your drawings did exactly what you needed them to do. I like the heart windows and all the hearts in the tree. Just fun and stress free-right? And a wonderful quote that works so well for your challenge. I hope your day was as happy ass this piece is. hugs-Erika

I think this is really fun and whimsical Elizabeth - your clouds are great and there is nothing wrong with the tree. I am dreadfully behind in looking at your art again this week so I’m going to catch up now. This working thing gets in the way sometimes! :)

No laughing from me, we are never happy with our own hand writing and yes I do see the clouds floating in the sky.
The fabulous page is glowing with love from your houses , which even seems to be spilling over into the garden and encouraging the tress to share some love.

There is something about little houses that just warms my heart. This is adorable, Elizabeth, maybe one of my favorites of many of yours (although there are too many to count!)

Hello Elizabeth.
I don't know if you will see this comment as I am a bit behind, but I thought this post was full of love and heart with the houses with their heart doors and heart windows, the tree of hearts, the cloud-words and your perfectly fine hand-writing.
Drawing and painting realistically is boring - your art has heart.
I really like your tree.

Over 160 thousand men and women are trying a simple and SECRET "liquids hack" to drop 2 lbs each night while they sleep.

It is easy and it works with everybody.

Here's how you can do it yourself:

1) Take a clear glass and fill it up half the way

2) Then use this awesome HACK

and you'll be 2 lbs lighter as soon as tomorrow!
