T Stands For National Make a Dog's Day

Today we're meeting in my dining room and

raising our mugs

in celebration of

National Make a Dog's Day.

It's an effort to clear the shelters and find forever homes for dogs.

Granted, I'm a cat lover, but I've had dogs in the past.

Unfortunately, I'm a dog snob.  I only bought pedigreed dogs with long lineages of excellent championship bloodlines from both the sire and dam.  I also preferred the number 1 registered pup, too, which meant it was the pick of the litter.  Your certified registration papers you get when you purchase the pup will give that information.  That is IF you live or purchase the pup in the U.S..  However, the genealogy will be left to you to discover the bloodlines unless the seller provides the genealogy information when you buy the animal.  Some top breeders share that information because it's a good selling point.  Like I said: dog snob!

Most people don't care about that, though.  So let's celebrate and make some dog's day, even if it is yours or a friend's!

For this page which began as 110 lb card stock, I printed a mug on the paper, then used a gazillion stickers of dogs to decorate the mug.

Now let me tempt you with a blueberry muffin I purchased yesterday while you drink your favorite drink from the above mug.  Not the best photo, but I had several that got overwritten because I still have too many photos I haven't removed from my memory card.

It's now time to share your own drink related post this week.  It can be photos, a place you visited, movies, postcards, books, sketches, mixed media, drawings, paintings, tags, ATCs, scrapbooking, or other art that is digital, hybrid, or traditional, as long as it in some way relates back to a drink, any drink.  Please share below and Bleubeard and I, along with the rest of the T gang will be by to visit.   Please link only your T post and not your blog in general.  Old photos are acceptable because they may be taken any time, not just on Tuesday, and not just this year.

That's a fun dog mug, and always good to rescue dogs from shelters. I made blueberry muffins, too, and hey were good - too good! Happy T Day, Valerie

We've had a pedigreed lhasa apso and two pedigreed shi tzus that we loved dearly. Now, because of where we live (with many stray and abandoned dogs), we take in rescues. #10 and counting. Dogs are wonderful companions and, at the very least deserve to be cared for and loved. Thanks for reminding people, Elizabeth.

We had blueberry muffins from Costco today. They were stale. Yuck. May I have a bite of yours?

Happy T-day! Eileen xx

I didn't know it was National Dog Day! I had a spaniel, a mutt, a beagel, a mutt and a boxer pedigreed as a kid. When our kids were younger, we had mini dachshunds, pedigreed, and a cat. No pets at all for the last 25 years though, with the kids gone. Love your mug. Thanks for the tea and blueberry muffin, Elizabeth. :)

I didn’t know about this day! Our son has had three rescue dogs, two of them were wonderful pets, the third was totally crazy, couldn’t be trained in any way, in the end someone else had to take her on as they couldn’t cope with her near the boys.
Love blueberry muffins, blueberry bagels, I have to make the most of them over here as we can’t get them in Spain
Have a great T Day, Jan x

Dogs are cute as long as they are someone else’s 😺 I’ll take a yummy muffin regardless of its pedigree

What a darling mug!! I grew up with dogs- always from the local shelter. But in having my own as an adult we also became dog snobs and used reputable breeders of show dogs with great reputations and lineages.Because I always wanted a spaniel. I miss having a dog so very much but just can't deal with another loss. Thus, I will dog sit for anyone that needs:):)

Your blueberry muffin looks so tempting. Thankfully i did make some earlier this week and have a few left (or so I think!) Happy T day!

Oh i love your dog mug. Those are super cuties. I am a rescue dog lady. We've had 4 since I've gotten married, (I also grew up with dogs although my dad was more of a cat guy) all of which have been super and smart dogs. Maddie was the hardest to train; she is too smart and has quite the sense of humor-she is quite the trickster and teaser when she wants to be. We've also had 2 rescue cats, although right now we don't have any cats. I have never really wanted any particular breed but I do prefer my mixes to be friendly/easy going (lab) and smart (German shepherd) and that seems to be what we usually end up with, but I've had terrier mixes and also now Pete who has some hound mixed in with his lab.OK, enough babbling about my pups. Happy T day. Hugs-Erika

Cute mug idea! I am definitely not a dog snob and I have loved many dogs but over the years I definitely decided I prefer cats. Much less work--LOL! But there's nothing like a dog for unconditional love. :)

When I was four I so wanted a cat, but my Mum hated cats and instead I got a young German Shepheard dog. They went to dog school with her - without me, so I didn´t know the commands. She knocked me over oh so often and later, when I "worked" (well it was work!) giving out papers a dog chased me, heeeelp! Years later a stray dog tried to bite me... ohhhh, dogs are really not mine!
But you are right (and here is my hat for braving up to tell your snob-story!) - we should, if we want an animal - go to the shelter.
What I think is a little overloaded is to catch stray dogs in Spain, bring them to the vet there and if OK fly them to Germany... We have enough dogs in shelters already. And flying... well, is that necessary?

I hadn't heard of Day Day either. But it's a nice initiative.
I've never had a dog. my mum & dad didn't like pets so we never grew up with dogs. But in 2010, the year we were homeless (we had sold our house to move to spain, but then I had to have my cancer treatment which lasted 9 months. We slept at friends' houses) we stayed with a lady that had two Labradors. One was old and close to death, the other one was a one years old. She got a puppy while we were there and we took the puppy to puppy training. It was fun to live with 3 dogs and we learnt a lot. I am now smitten with Labradors and would love one myself, but it's such a responsability and hubby is not too keen.
Happy T-Day,
Lisca

I think must be a special day for dog lovers. I'm sorry to say I hadn't heard of this one. One of our past dogs [ the one before Meg] was a rescue dog, she had a bad start in life, even the vet couldn't say how old she was when we took her, she gave us 12 years of love and companionship. You have me in memory mode this morning.
I love the mug with all the dog photos and of course that muffin looks very tempting.
Have a happy T day.

Ive been a dog snob in my past, scotties and mini dachshunds were my breeds. But my retired husband now wanted a dog so we adopted a mixed breed from the shelter AWA. He is my love, so handsome and so lovable. No more dog sobbing for me now. The mug is adorable, and I love the pose on the dog inside the rim. They are so comical and expressive with their paws!

I love dogs and have had two in my lifetime, but I'm definitely more of cat person just like you. Even though they are the kings/queens of the castle, something about them is soothing to me. Of course doggies should be recognized too, because they are man's/women's best friend. I'll have one of those muffins please.(lol) Happy Wednesday and hugs, RO

I love dogs! The picture you created is perfect for the theme. I had a black lab from the pound and our current mentally ill dog is a rescue so no snobbery here:) A friend of mine has a bernadoodle and that is a total snob dog purchase. The dog is cute but it is 5 months old and it is huge! His face already reaches the top of the table. She and her hubby paid $5,000 for this dog...I almost fell off my chair
