What's On Your Workdesk this 523rd Wednesday: minutia

Once again, I'm linking to the Queen of Deskers herself, Julia Dunnit at Stamping Ground.  As promised, I will share what I keep on my table every day.

But first, I know the reason many of you came was to see the weekly rocking horse.

This one lives in my craft room and was sent to me for my birthday last year by Chris at Pear Shaped Crafting.  It normally lives near my sewing machine, so I see it every time I sew something.  Now for the table.

I swear this is how my craft room table looks every day.  I have enough clutter that catches my eye at the back of the table, I don't want any on the work surface.

Baby wipes are staples and so are all the various adhesives I use.  Each has its own function.

I use these stamp pads all the time, or at least whenever I stamp.  The small black stamp pad was sent to me by Julia, which encouraged me to stamp more.  The Staz-on black is the only other pad I use.  The stamps are Bleubeard's and my signatures.

Wendy is not really photo bombing today, because this is where she hangs out every day she isn't called into action.

This is my container of shame and an eyesore.

However, I never seem to be able to get rid of anything in this container.  Everything has a vital use, or at least it does for this mixed media artist.   Overflowing with items I feel are essential, I've cleaned it out three times and it's still an eyesore!

These are "essentials" that overflowed the container, like my handmade static-eliminating pouncer and much needed hand cream.

On the edge of my desk sit my hole punch I use to create holes in journal pages and a very old, albeit very long throat stapler.  Red rosin paper covers a plastic bath curtain that protects the table.

Thank you beyond belief for stopping by today. Unfortunately, I won't be able to play next week.  I must be out the door by 6:30 a.m. my time, so I must be in bed sleeping when it's time to link to WOYWW.  I hope to be back the 26th, but I will definitely be back sharing my desk on the 3rd of July.

Please join me at Julia's where the Wednesday celebration never sleeps.  Remember, you can put your desk on display, too.  And please leave your number if you are playing in WOYWW this week.

I can't believe that the tag hasn't arrived yet Elizabeth. I am so sorry. It was posted airmail nearly three weeks ago so it should have been with you by now. If it hasn't arrived by the next time that you link up I will make another one. Happy WOYWW. Sarah #7

I have far more containers (big boxes!) of shame, and it's not a dedicated craft room either... so fear not. Happy WOYWW Helen #9

I’ve just had a mahoosive clear out of my craft supplies and the mobile drawers they were held in and I still have a long way to go before I can start any sort of creative work. Enjoy your creative space. We are so lucky to have one aren’t we.

I have plenty of those pots and containers of what knots, each thing with a purpose precious to no one other than me. No matter how our creative space appears Elizabeth it's always a place to be loved. Even when away on holiday I always need to take a little piece of mine with me even if we never connect it's good to know it's there.
Glad to be back as I try and get back on track with it all but given a month of Sunday's I know i'll never catch up with it all.
Sending WoywW Hugs Tracey & Thank you for the welcome back xx

A great tour of your desk, Elizabeth! Love the rocking horse card - those muted colours work really well together. I'll have to miss next week as well, but that's the great thing about WOYWW - we take part when we can and no one will tell us off for missing a couple of weeks LOL! Hope you have a good week! zsuzsa #20

My work desk looks like that too - always cleared as I need space to lay out all my fabrics! I enjoyed seeing all your essentials work-kit too. That rocking horse card is lovely, I can see why you keep it in line of sight, it's so pretty!

I loved the tour of your desk, Elizabeth! Great to see what's "essential" for different people. It all looks very organised. I've never heard of red rosin paper before. I just use a non-stick craft sheet, taped over an ultra-heatproof mat. Thank you for your great comment and for your optimism re my disability benefit claim! I am trusting that you are right! As for the kitties, I told Ruby (sleeping on my legs atm) that she was "as good as a desk" and I got a mini-twitch of one ear in response. Ho hum. They are pretty cute, aren't they!

That is a cool Genius at Work "thingie"-I can't think of what you would call it, but I like it. I bet that gives you lots of inspiration, not for individual pieces but the fact that you are an art genius and an inspiration to all of us who stop by. Keep on creating my friend! hugs-Erika

Hi Elizabeth, ear scritches to Bleubeard. Lovely to have a tour of your desk. Overflowing containers are a thing of regular appearance here, lol. My desk constantly has that problem. I need to really buckle down & use up a lot of UFO's. Have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #10 X

Great looking rocking horse Elizabeth. Your desk work area looks very neat. (Hmmm...) I enjoy your commentary for each of your photos, and laughed at your "container of shame" eyesore. You have the funniest descriptions. I can relate to clutter: I have some areas that fill up with clutter, then I finally declutter them, but over time, the clutter creeps back. It's a never ending battle. :-)

I've been doing some much needed cleaning in my space but still have many containers of "stuff". Most of it I use often and just can't do without! I think we are all like that if the truth be told!

I like a crafter who clears the table each evening. I used to do it, not so much now with all the health problems but I do try my best.
So both you and Bleubeard have your own special stamps, how lovely. I think we all have those containers that we keep the "usual" stuff in - buy that I mean 'most used' - some are tidier than others but as long as you can find the things you want that is most important.
Have a lovely time next week wherever you go and the week after can you tell us about this 'rosin' paper please.
Hugs, Neet 1 xx

Your container reminds me of Angela's exploding box that's on her desk. Love it! And since it contains stuff you use regularly why clean it out. Great card!
Thanks for popping by and have a wonderful week!

I can see our definitions of "eyesore" differ dramatically lol Because I work on the floor my eyesore is an ever-expanding area not stopped by table edges ;)

Hi Elizabeth, another gorgeous rocking horse - yes, I do come to see them as well as your desk. I keep my 'shame' in my cart beside my desk in the vein hope it won't spill over but it inevitably does from time to time. Enjoy your holiday and hugs to Bleubeard. Elizabeth x #26

Hi Elizabeth, thanks for the tour of your desk. It is always nice to sit down to a clear desk. I will be tidying mine tomorrow. I can't cope when I can't see things! I have a carousel desk tidy which I bought after seeing them on a few desks. It keeps my essentials all in one place. I'd be lost without it now. Bad memory means I need to know where everything is or it's lost forever! Hence I have lots of labelled boxes. Have a lovely week Heather x #12

Your desk is so much neater and tidier than mine, even with your work on it! And I know about things you just can't get rid of!

I think your workspace looks pretty tidy. My friend had given me a clear plastic pencil case (it's really a cosmetic bag) with pockets during an exchange. I ended up using it to bring book making tools. Liked the idea so much, I bought some more and now have separate bags to grab and go for travel, gilding, plein air painting, and stuff I bring in for students to use. It's helped to corral stuff. My desk is still a mess.

Hi there Elizabeth, wonderful wonderful crafty spot thanks so much for sharing, think we all love rocking horses, both today are really special. Mail to US takes forever Ike mail from Oz to UK sadly. Next week at WOYWW posting time I’ll be in a dentist’s chair having a complex extraction on lower molar. Joy! I’ll survive cos we always do. I’ve many exploding boxes or places of shame, but really not shame but yummy useful things.
Happy belated WOYWW. Thanks for sharing, Shaz in Oz.x #22

Your desk is certainly cleaner than mine ever is! If it were that clean, it would only be for a moment or two! LOL! Looking at you various boxes of things - that's what craft room are all about! I would be dismayed it your boxes were any different! Your "container of shame" is really a "container of creativity"!
I also used double strength instant coffee for my spray bottle! Little nose kisses to Bleubeard and Squiggles from Inky and Mittsy! Thanks for your earlier visit, have a great week! Lindart #30

I really love looking at all the different ways that rocking horses are depicted. The cards I've seen are truly lovely and unique. I wonder what it would be like if they were all strung together in one place. Can you imagine how cool that would be?(lol) Kudos on such a lovely treat. Hugs...RO
