Happy Father's Day

Today, Father's Day is celebrated in many parts of the world.  I'm also joining Halle at Halle's Hobbies, who is our host this month at Art Journal Journey.   Granted her theme is Words to live by, but I may be stretching this one a bit.

Most men, however, would certainly agree with the sentiment I created. And because it involves A Man's World, I'm also sharing this with Try it on Tuesday, their theme this fortnight.

Note the man.

Note his toys.

Note the bicycle.

Note the duck.

Note the horse.

Note the boy.

Note the toys (Jaguar XJ-S and Corvette ZR-1).

Note the sentiment:
The difference between men and boys is the co$t of their toys.
Note the boy perched

on his race car.

Note the contradiction, the disparity, and the role-reversal I have created with these two "players."  The man, surrounded by beige and brown, is playing with vintage children's toys, while the boy has amassed a fortune in expensive and colorful automobiles.  As for the sentiment, it may not technically be words to live by, but a lot of men would agree with it.  Happy Father's Day, all you dads out there.  Choose a toy and enjoy!

I know most dads are being treated to their special day today, so I thank those of you who have chosen to drop by to see this Father's Day spread.  I will also be at Art Journal Journey and Try it on Tuesday joining other like minded mixed media artists.

Wonderful spread, Elisabeth. Perfect for our 'It's a Man's World' challenge :-) Love the words you chose and it is oh so true... men do love their 'toys' AND they often throw them out of the pram, ROFL.
Love the background and the figures of man and boy - brilliant ;-)
Thank you so much for sharing with us at Try it on Tuesday.

Oh how I can relate to those words Elizabeth, you know how my lot love their 'big boys toys'.
It is a fabulous page, I love both aspects of the spread and all the layers of detail. The technical drawings make an awesome background.
I think we have been on the same wavelength today with the found relatives.
Of course I am thanking you for your support and for adding this to our challenge over at Try it on Tuesdays, it illustrates the theme so well.
Have a super day
Yvonne xx

I like the engineered designs. Himself is not into fancy cars or boats, but does enjoy power tools. Fun spread!

The sentiment is so true! I like how you created two pages - the boy related to men's toys and the man stands in front of the boy's toys, wonderful idea!
By the way I love those race cars since my childhood :)
Wish you a happy Sunday and a nice new week! Rike xx

Wow Elizabeth. Fantastic page today. That little boy sitting on top of that car is a fabulous thought, and also looks fabulous too. Nice spread for Father's Day. and although it may not be words to live by, it is a good quote that is so true! Happy Sunday. Hugs-Erika

I love this! And it totally fits as long as it has words on it...it fits. Some sort of journaling whether its your words, a quote, description etc. Just words.

I love the contrast between the two sides of the spread - the rainbow vs the neutrals, the men vs the boys. Great found words, and a brilliant combining of images with the Paper Dolls.

A fabulous spread Elizabeth, love the vintage images and the contrasting super car. Those words are so true - men and their 'toys' and if they can't have them then they drool over them!
Thanks for sharing this with us at Try it on Tuesday
