T STands For recycle, recycle (and an early bEARTHday gift from a friend

I spent practically the entire day going through my stash and found pieces I wanted to recycle or repurpose.

I wish I had been able to create some art, but some days you just need to have a prep day.  Besides, it's T time and I definitely don't want to miss that.  This is my ugly, grungy Wichita State Shockers mug I use when I'm in the craft room.  I will never get it mixed up with a cup of water or a glue and water mix.

Although it looks like there is a lot of white in this container, I've tried to hide some of the more impressive things I can use to make art.  For example:

One of the things I intend to recycle are the over 375 somethings (I made more than the 365 that were needed) taking up space in my office after they had been scanned.  Just like all my old altered Index Cards (ICs), I want to incorporate them in my art in some way.

A couple of weeks ago, my dear internet friend Cindy, in one of her weekly reviews, gave me the idea to use one of these cards I could cut based on a handmade laminated mask I made a few years ago.

I rotated the square because I didn't like that the green swirl covered her face.

Although I had to cut it to fit the square, I was happy with the wonky way it turned out.

Cindy's person had a postage stamp attached to the head, so I copied her design.  I hope she will believe imitation is the greatest form of flattery.  Now for a gift I received.

Nearly two weeks ago (yes, I forgot to show it before) I received this early bEARTHday gift.  Actually, the sender thought my birthday was in March, like hers.

I'm sure at least some of you know who the sender is.  Yes, it's Pamela Gerard from Cappuccino and Art Journal.  She takes mail art to a whole new level.  I'm off to open it now.  However, I'm on a mission to stamp OUT metered mail!

Look at all these wonderful goodies she sent me.

Wonderful library check out cards and the envelopes they came in, wrapped in beautiful baker's twine.

Lot's of wonderful goodies sent from the heart, and sealed with some very wide washi tape.  Thank you, thank you, thank you, dear Pamela from the bottom of my heart.

For Day 9 of 22, I had coffee in my craft room, shared gifts from my friend Pamela, and corralled some of my scraps to be used in art in the next few days. I also repurposed one of my 365 something squares, along with a postage stamp and turned it into an element I will use soon.

It's now time for you to share your own drink related post.  It can be gifts you received, photos, a place you visited, movies, postcards, books, junk mail, ads, sketches, mixed media, drawings, paintings, tags, scrapbooking, or other art that is digital, hybrid, or traditional, as long as it in some way relates back to a drink, any drink.  Regardless, please share below and Bleubeard and I, along with the rest of the T gang will be by to visit.   Please link only your T post and not your blog in general.  Old photos are acceptable because they may be taken any time, not just on Tuesday and not just this year.

I would have shown this sooner, but at about2 p.m. today my electricity went out.  When I called the electric company, the lady said there were over 3000 customers affected, so it had to be something big.   She offered to "text me" once they had an idea how long I would be without power.  I laughed and told her I was calling from an old Princess phone attached to the wall.  She said "Thanks for calling" and hung up.

The reason I was trying to get online was because after I got home from treating Lovey, I took photos of gifts from two wonderful friends.

Now who do I know in Austria?

Who do I know who draws this well?  Who do I know who uses watercolors so brilliantly?

Susi, of course.   Thank you so much, Susi.  You know how thrilled I am, although you should NOT have.

The other gift?  You'll have to wait on that, because I took tons of photos.  It's from my cheeseburger loving friend RO!

You sure have quite a lot of great pieces to use and recycle and it was good to get a glimpse of your craft room. I thought my tea mugs were big, so I was pleased to see the large mug you like to use for your beverage in your craft room.
It is a super way you used the mask as well, I like the abstract appearance of the figure.
Enjoy your happy mail.
Happy T day wishes.

Wow! You do have quite the stash! I like the design on the square you incorporated into your modern woman. Such a pose goes well with the color blocks. That's a birthday package to last for ages :)

I love your 'cut-out' lady. she is one with attitude without doubt.
Such beautiful presents! Susi's bird is exquisite and the goodies from Pamela are absolutely great. I'm sure you can do a lot with that. Have fun!
I assume you have you power back now. I hope it didn't last very long. Annoying nonetheless.
Happy T-Day,
Lisca

Nice happy mail. There isn't anything like an early birthday gift, you can just make the whole month up to your birthday a celebration time. In fact you do! And why not? Life is too short to hold back I think. (I may not post it but if you ask my family I always go on about my birthday and they will tell you I start counting down 2 months in advance.0 And I adore your new art. That is a clever idea. Isn't great how blogging gives so much inspiration? happy T day too. hugs-Erika

Wow! Looks like April is off to bang with all those colorful goodies! I know it's a pain, but isn't it so neat to find all the cool stuff you forgot you had, that can be used for artsy projects? I sure love what you did with your cutouts. I absolutely adore what your friend sent all the way from Austria!!!! Very amazing and lovely piece. And Pamela is quite clever to find those neat items, including the library cards, which I love. Once again, I'm so glad you have this site because I've seen some amazing artwork from you, and met so many great artists via your blog too. I think it would be the best thing ever to have all the Blogger Art Buds have one big gallery to display their lovely artwork. I straighten up my work area, and usually it stays in order for about 2 weeks. I need a room just for my Planners(lol) Hugs and Happy Tuesday! RO

Good to have a prep day and consolidate your papers and brain. I do like the way you cut the lady out of the patterned card and a postage stamp, very innovative.
You have been receiving wonderful gifts and who wouldn't like one of Susi's inimitable paintings.
Hope you and Bleubeard and Squiggles are having a good week.
Love from Sheila

Wonderful mail and fun art, too! I like your colorful girl. And that bird card you received is just exquisite. I'm a little envious that I'm not nearly so good!

There's so many wonderful encouragers out there, I sense that feeling when we find something within our stash that will help do the job we intended. Your patchwork lady looks fab, good use of that stamp too.. You've had a wonderful amount of reusable gifts sent Elizabeth, it seems like an age away that I last saw a library slip like that. Library's have changed so much over the past 20 years. I did laugh at your phone convo regarding the electricity.
Happy T Day Tracey xx
