Happy New Year and a new host at Art Journal Journey

Happy new year one and all.

Looking for T Tuesday?  It's the previous post, dear friends and T Tuesday addicts.

Today we have a new host at Art Journal Journey.  Susi and I welcome Alison, where she can be found at Craftytrog's Arty Adventures.  Her theme is Geometric Shapes and I am in LOVE with this theme.

If you have been around my blog for any length of time, you know I can't draw.  I've said it before that it's not in my wheelhouse.  I not only can't draw, I am not particularly good at coloring the shapes I DO draw.   However, I CAN draw geometric shapes, even if I have to use a ruler and a French curve to do so!

That's why today I give you my first entry for Alison's theme and I call it "Friendly Waters."

I hope this catfish

finds these waters friendly.

Since this is supposed to be a fish (come on dear friends, use your imagination), I am also joining Moo-Mania and More with their Fish theme.

For this page, I tore a page out of an old Plane Geometry book and colored it blue using a water soluble crayon.  Since the page was so old, the light blue was difficult to color over the brown paper.  The geometric shapes I chose for the fish I colored using a dark blue water soluble crayon were three triangles, two circles, and two one-quarter ellipses. The fin and center of the eye were made using turquoise acrylic craft paint, while the "whiskers" were orange acrylic craft paint.

Thanks for looking and thanks to Alison for her inspiring Geometric Shapes this month at Art Journal Journey.  Please also join me there and at Moo-Mania and More for their Fish theme.

Please, please be aware, Alison, Susi, Bleubeard, and I want you to join us at Art Journal Journey with your geometric inspired altered book pages, loose pages, journal pages, or canvases.  However, we cannot accept cards or tags, and will be forced to delete them.  Digital art is always welcome.

I like your fish. He's cute.

Your fish is recognizable as a fish so you can't say you can't draw. I like how your background page echoes the shapes you drew to create the fish. I'm partial to his or her color, too. Well done.

I just love your fish. And even though I love your fish, that geometry book page is an outstanding background for this challenge. Wow, it's a double winner page. I will also admit I kind of forgot about the moo mania challenge and if I get my holiday decorations down with time left I'm going to go make some fish myself. Hope day 1 of the new year is a good one for you. Hugs-Erika

Hello Elizabeth - firstly thank you so much for the lovely message you left on my blog. I hope you had a lovely Christmas also and that this year will be a happy and healthy one for you full of lots of lovely arty adventures.
I must also apologise for not joining in with your AJJ theme in December - I had intended to but I don't know where the time went.
Love what you created for the January theme - your fish is pretty cool and your background paper/graphics a perfect choice.
Have a great week and Happy January.

Dear Liz your blue fish looks pretty good. Let me tell you: Everyone can draw, not all in the same way and quality, but all can do it. The beginning is alway difficult but you will become better by doing it often. Don't give up. Art must not be perfect.
Best wishes for this New Year Dear, stay happy, healthy and creative.
Big Hugs
Sabine

Your Geometric Fish is very clever. Great use of the geometric shapes - bet Bleubeard had something to do with this concept of yours.
The background is perfect for your fish - well thought out - and he is instantly recognisable.
