Trees, trees, trees

You may know by now that Bleubeard and I are hosting Art Journal Journey this month.  Our themes are My Favorite Season or 'Tis the Season.

Today we are celebrating the Season of Thanks.  Because this spread includes trees, Bleubeard and I are also joining Moo-Mania and More with their theme Trees.

Leaves are falling from the autumn trees.

The tags managed to catch a couple of the larger leaves!

It truly IS the "season of thanks."

For this spread I began by laying down different water soluble crayons and blending them together.  I liked the background so much, I almost hated to cover it.  I next colored two very large tags I found in my stash using walnut ink.  To that, I added the trees to which I first glued large autumn leaves and two small leaves to each.  I also added the washi tape birds to both trees, too.  Then I cut a piece of hoarded German text and added the sentiment.  After everything was assembled, I added the smaller leaves around the exterior of the piece.

And while we are on the subject of trees, lets see some more trees I have used to decorate my home.

Even my rusty copper house

displays a Christmas tree in the front window.

This tree sits on my front porch.

More trees inside

are moved around from year to year, except the napkin holder I use to hold my Christmas cards and gifts in envelopes that I receive.

It always sits on the map chest as you enter the front door.

I decorated this tree about 12 years ago when I was heavily into creating floral arrangements.  I added lights to it a few years ago, but after they all burned out, I removed them.

I fear I wasn't especially careful when I did it, either.  BTW, I still love the three old dress patterns I cut and placed in frames.  And of course, I love my leaded glass decoration and the various rocking horses that sit on and around my grandmother's old sewing machine.

Bleubeard and I are so happy you chose to join us today and hope to also see you at Art Journal Journey where our themes are Favorite Season or 'Tis the Season and at Moo-Mania and More with their theme Trees.

I enjoyed all of the pictures, but my favorites were the autumn ones with leaves as part of the art. I love autumn. It's actually become my favorite season, and right now we are having a beautiful autumn in Sacramento.

I think your tree page is full of fall whimsey. I agree with you about the background, but that tree paper is lot of fun. And I love seeing all the trees around your home. Some of them, like the holly tree, have a fantastic vintage feel. Your rusty copper house is really amazing. What a cool piece of wall art. It's fun how you added the tree for the holiday to it. Hope it's been a good day. Hugs-Erika

I would like a closer look at the fairy on top of your Christmas tree! We have several things to go on the top of our tree, a fairy doll, a bird and several stars made by the kids at various times. This year it is a great big star my younger daughter made when she was 10
