The birthday

You are probably aware by now that Bleubeard and I are hosting Art Journal Journey this month.  I chose Favorite Season for this spread.  Today my favorite season is any season that includes a birthday.

However, I have a very dear friend who is having a birthday today, so she gets to have an entire season of birthdays.

"Today is a

good day

for a birthday."

I even made her a cupcake.

It's her favorite kind: stamped!!!

I realized I had cut too many squares for my 365 something project, so I covered three of them with book pages and spritzed three of them with my handmade shimmering mists.  I then stamped the cupcake, a rubber stamp on a wooden block I picked up at my local Dollar Tree (their motto is Everything is a dollar).  All that's left is to light the candle and wish my friend Chris a very happy birthday.

Thank you for joining Bleubeard and me today and we also hope to see you at Art Journal Journey.

I like the squares on this page. It almost looks like a piece of a quilt. And a stamped cupcake is a great way to enjoy a yummy treat without all the calories. :) Happy Wednesday. Hugs-Erika

Nothing says birthday like cake and having your own special cupcake is the icing on it. I love the quilt design, too. Happy Birthday, Chris.

What a creative way to make use of your spare 365 squares. I love the inky colours, with so much movement, and I always love a book page!

The monkey joke on my blog:

Monkey 1 speech balloon: What rhymes with orange.

Monkey 2 speech balloon: No it doesn't

The joke explained: Monkey 1 is asking a question. What rhymes with orange?

Monkey 2 doesn't hear a question, but hears a statement What (as in the word what) rhymes with orange. Monkey 2 knows the word "what" doesn't rhyme with orange so he says No, it doesn't.

I love that you don't just toss it when it's too much or whatever. You use it. That's wonderful!

And thanks for all the nice words you've written recently in my comments. I can't tell you how much they make me smile and I"m so grateful you come over and read!

This mixture of printed text and watercolour painting is very attractive, Elizabeth, the bright colours alternated with the black and white text caught my eye right away. And you've added a fun self-quote. I feel like making a collage - soon.
