Second on the 2nd: a look back at ICADs

I seem to use a lot of acronyms on my blog, and ICAD is one of them.  ICAD stands for Index Card A Day.  I've participated for the past five years and I though I would show my recapped cards today.

I made this one to honor Tammy at Daisy Yellow.

It appears I used a few file folder cards this year, but most were still regular index cards.

July, 2015

This was the first year I cut my ICs from used file folders.  I also only sewed, stapled, spritzed, or stamped every IC in 2015.

This was the second year I cut all my ICs from used file folders.  No sense buying ICs, when I had so many of these old file folders around.

Looks like I went back to index cards, but included a few file folder index cards, too.  Somehow, I fear I'm running out of ideas.

You are not just the Altered Book and Mixed Media Queen - you are the ICAD Queen as well my friend! Amazing and now I know why you have learned sooo much about composition during the last years! This ICAD challenge is wonderful for you and your art I am sure! Happy ICAD(ing) for you my friend! I am looking forward to your ICADS of 2018 now!
Happy Sewcond on the 2nd Elizabeth!

Your ICADS are wonderful. I love how they look like quilts when displayed in a montage. I'll look forward to seeing your offerings for this year's challenge. Since the school hasn't given me all the names of the award winners and graduation is a week from today, I will have to sit this challenge out as I'll be too far behind to catch up

wow this was allot of work over the years-but I love these collages, I like your recycled file folders too gives you a more blank base too. and i agree with CJ these look like quilts and I also agree with Susi that this is an awesome learning tool for composition. How you do keep all of these-In plastic sleeves in book form? You could also turn them into little books somehow at end of the year.
You are very inspiring Elizabeth-hugs Happy second on the 2nd Kathy

It's so inspiring to see all of these. In JUne 2015 you even used a dog that looks just like Maddie, one of my dogs. They are fun and make me think I need to just make a bunch of random "things", since I haven't done that for awhile and change topics after a few pieces. I hadn't seen many of these before and it was a fun visit! Happy second on the second. Hugs-Erika

Wow- ICAD Hall of Fame! This is so impressive, and such a variety of techniques and styles. I should note for you that if you use the joint compound on fabric, seal it with clear gesso once it's done to prevent flaking and give yourself a good surface to paint or stamp on.

Those are a lot of ICAD's! What do you do with them all once you are finished? It is a fun challenge, I am doing it for the second time this year. I'm trying to use as much junk mail as I can. Those heavy card stock flyers are getting cut to size! Thanks for stopping by my blog, I appreciate your comments.

The collages look like colorful quilts Elizabeth. It's really impressive that you've been able to come up with new and wonderful ideas every day over such a long period of time. I wish you could share the secret of actually completing so many pieces of art. I smiled at the references to Bleubeard and Squiggles.

I love seeing your collages of all your cards together. So many -- I'm so impressed! And also that you bridge a lot of different styles in your work. It's really remarkable. And terribly inspiring!
