Poetry is like a bird

I'm once again joining Jo at Let's Art Journal, our host this month at Art Journal Journey.  The theme she has chosen is flora and fauna.   Because it fits their flower theme they have chosen for a second fortnight, I'm also joining the challenge at Moo-Mania & More.

This entry was created in my Challenges altered book. The flowers may look familiar to you long time readers of my blog.  I used this same napkin last year for a July 4th spread, where the flowers were turned into fireworks.  Just goes to show I never throw anything away!

The little bird was hand painted (not by me) and fussy cut from a high end calendar that came from my local zoo.  You can see where I've pieced the napkin together to allow it to cover the page in the altered book.

The sentiment reads: "Poetry is like a

bird, it ignores all frontiers."   I have no idea where the quote came from.

I started by laying down pieces of the napkin in my Challenges altered book, then added the fussy cut bird and sentiment I outlined with gold ink.

I'm sure I don't say it often enough, but I am very grateful for your visit.  Thank you for sharing time with me today where you will also find me at Art Journal Journey and Moo-Mania & More.

This looks so good showing the booktext behind the beautiful scene you created with the various elements! Gorgeous done ! I googled and found out that the lovely quote it's from an interesting Russian poet whose name is too difficult for me to keep in mind-lol.

I would have never thought those were fireworks until you mentioned it. I thought they were abstract flowers or dandelions in full fluff mode. This is really beautiful page, and that quote is so true. :) I's a perfect page for spring! Nice work my friend. Hugs-Erika

Very nice job "E" ... I love using napkins for background, treating them so the feathering effect almost makes the joined places disappear ... the bird and flowers make me think of Spring ... ;-)

What a beautiful page! You gave the bird the best position on your page! I like how you covered the book page with this wonderful napkin, so that the text is shining through! The quote is great and the outline with gold ink is a topping!
Wish you a Happy Weekend, dear Elizabeth!

The anchor of the bird on those sweet gray blossoms is really nice. The textures and positioning really works with this. Nice, Elizabeth!

REALLY loVe this page! I have been watching the first bird to use our nesting box that I have seen - it has been there for a couple of years and I saw a sparrow investigating earlier this Spring - a lot of flying in and out at the moment so there must be babies!! Hugs, Chrisx

Great page and thought-provoking quote, Elizabeth. I love how you've allowed the text to show through and also the texture you achieved with the napkin decoupage. Lovely <3
