Butterflies and flowers

Is anyone besides me excited to see the Royal wedding?  I look forward to it, since it's the first I've had the opportunity to see.  It's a good thing I'm used to staying up all night and keeping the same hours as my European friends.

Speaking of European friends, I'm once again joining the incredibly talented Jo at Let's Art Journal, our host this month at Art Journal Journey.  The theme she has chosen is flora and fauna.   I'm also joining the challenge at Moo-Mania & More because it fits their flower theme.

Today I'm working in my Challenges altered book.

In addition to butterflies and flowers, a fly has landed on this painting.

There is so much detail in this painting I found in an art book I purchased at the Art Museum last year.  I keep admiring the beauty of it all.

For this page, I began by using a color wash on the page.  However, once it dried, I could barely tell or see the three colors I used.  I added the focal image which I fussy cut, then bits of washi tape.

Thank you for sharing time with me today where you will also find me at Art Journal Journey and Moo-Mania & More.  I hope to see you both places, too.

A beautiful, lush bouquet you used on your page! Very appropriate to the Royal Wedding today. Have fun watching - I hope to find time to watch it as well - the last Royal wedding I watched was Diana/Charles as I was 18 years old. Oh gosh I got so old meanwhile - horrible! Time flies! Thank you very much for the beautiful flower bouquet page linked to Art Journal Journey and Moo Mania & More dear Elizabeth!
Hugs, Susi

It is a very beautiful painting you used. These artists add so much to the paintings that we do have to look closely in case we miss anything. I would have missed the fly if you hadn't mentioned it.
Enjoy watching the wedding, I will have my TV on all the time today in case I miss anything. It has just been announced here[ 8. 30 a.m.] that the couple will be known as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
Have a great day Elizabeth.

beautiful painting. Yes I love watching the Royal weddings. I watched the last two but this time I taped it from the BBC channel-I thought it would have better coverage than our news stations. can't wait to watch it later this morning

I love this piece. You picked such a beautiful painting. Those flowers are just spilling out of the picture.
I'm currently watching snippets of the wedding.
Have a great weekend, dear Elizabeth.

Well you have been busy this week! I just went through your week’s work, starting with your lovely Monday collages and have left a few comments here and there. I have also had keyboard problems. I use a tablet (iPad) for my personal use and it has a keyboard / case that has been working sporadically for weeks. This week i think it gave up the ghost entirely. That meant no typing, but hunting and pecking on the touch screen. So at least I could do something, but very slowly! This is a pretty page too, and I liked seeing the words from the background page showing through. Today is the first day of a long weekend here. Monday is Victoria Day, where we in Canada celebrate Queen Victoria’s birthday. I was suprised to see that it is not a holiday in the UK when I was there! I hope you enjoyed the wedding. I’ve looked at some of the pics. I wish them well but I’m looking forward to having a little less royalty in my daily news feed, and I’m sure they’re hoping the world will move on as well!

Yup, I got up early, took my walk and made it to see the wedding. I will say I recorded it just in case none of that happened. It's exciting the bride is American and half African American. I also love your classic piece today. The still life is beautiful. I wonder who actually painted it? Maybe it was no one famous or just one of those itinerary painters who vanished into history. Hope you are enjoying your Saturday. Hugs-Erika

It really is a beautiful piece of art you have chosen, I love to take in ever inch of creations especially ones such as this as there is always something extra to find hidden within, just like that found fly.
Hope you enjoyed the Royal Wedding, I watched whilst catching up with some outdoor chores as the weather has been glorious.
Creative wishes Tracey x

There is really so much detail in this painting, even a fly! I admire these wonderful vine grapes - there is more life in the painting than in a photo of them.
So your collage became a beautiful page in your altered book!
Wish you a happy day! Rike xx

Great images in this post, Elizabeth. And yes, I'm a royal wedding fanatic and will post on it tomorrow. I love everything about it -- the history, the pageantry, the wild and crazy-dressed fans, the whole thing!
