Music is my muse

I'm finally joining Alison/Craftytrog, our host this month at Art Journal Journey.  Her theme is recycle/collage, which fits nicely with my recycling efforts this month.  Although this first entry lacks the collage portion that Alison would prefer, it does qualify in the recycle category. 

I began with one side of a cracker box and a sheet of vintage sheet music from a book of sheet music I got at a garage sale years ago.  I also pulled out my music tapes stencil I purchased awhile back. 

I glued the sheet music to the cardboard backing, then used my tampons (yes, I use feminine tampons instead of sponges with my stencils) to color the parts of the music from the stencil.   I was really quite happy with how the ink showed through the stencil.  Finally, I added some music washi tape to finish it off.

For Day 3 of 22, I recycled a portion of used cardboard and a piece of vintage sheet music in order to create a piece the recipient can frame, hang, or add to their art journal.  Although  this is not in an altered book, it still qualifies because it is a loose page.
