Music is my muse

I'm finally joining Alison/Craftytrog, our host this month at Art Journal Journey.  Her theme is recycle/collage, which fits nicely with my recycling efforts this month.  Although this first entry lacks the collage portion that Alison would prefer, it does qualify in the recycle category.

I began with one side of a cracker box and a sheet of vintage sheet music from a book of sheet music I got at a garage sale years ago.  I also pulled out my music tapes stencil I purchased awhile back.

I glued the sheet music to the cardboard backing, then used my tampons (yes, I use feminine tampons instead of sponges with my stencils) to color the parts of the music from the stencil.   I was really quite happy with how the ink showed through the stencil.  Finally, I added some music washi tape to finish it off.

For Day 3 of 22, I recycled a portion of used cardboard and a piece of vintage sheet music in order to create a piece the recipient can frame, hang, or add to their art journal.  Although  this is not in an altered book, it still qualifies because it is a loose page.

I am simply thrilled you chose to spend some time with me today.    Thank you beyond belief for your continued support of my art.  Today, you will find me at Art Journal JourneyHope to see you there, too.

I like this musical piece Elizabeth. Nice recycling. :) It was smart using the cardboard from the cracker box as your base too. And nice stencil. I haven't seen this one before but I think you can use that for lots of projects. Have a great WEdnesday, hugs-Erika

The page is beautiful E.! Your cassettes stencil is cool! They are vintage stuff meanwhile. My daughter and I talked about them recently, as she doesn't know them any more. She is already CD generation. And I told her that cassettes were new to us as I was a kid and as I was little there were just tapes on very large tape recorders.
I am sorry that the big tape recorder and all the tapes got lost during the years as there was my voice on them as I was just 3 years old or so and my grandmother and grandaunt and all my beloved, long dead family members. I would so love to hear this now.
How clever with the tampon... I should try this .
Great entry for AJJ, thank you and great entry for your recycle month!
Have a nice day!
We have warm temperatures just now - it's AMAZING!

I love how inventive you are with both your ideas, design and use of materials. The end result always seems to work well! This one sure does!

This would make great gift wrap paper for a music lover. Very cool. Somehow I missed this yesterday.

Tampons!? I never thought of that but I guess they are of the right consistency to hold the paint when one stencils..I might try that. I love the old cassette tapes and still have some that i play. Great book page

This looks fantastic Elizabeth, a super music page. I don't know how I missed this one.
I had to smile at one of the products you used, but if it works and you have shown us that it did, its a good idea and probably cheaper to buy than something branded for the purpose.

this is a great theme for you Elizabeth, and a brilliant start to the month. Love the cassette stencil and the retro colours you’ve used. I got a kick out of your alternative to the sponge (I bet they work great though - nice and dense!). :)
