It became a yellow butterfly

I'm once again joining Alison/Craftytrog, our host this month at Art Journal Journey.  Her theme is recycle and collage.

Nearly everything in this page is recycled.  That's why I am also once again joining Try it on Tuesday where their theme this fortnight is Recycle Something.

I am a huge fan of Buckminster Fuller.  I love his geodesic domes, his bucky balls, and this quote.

I wonder if the caterpillar knew it was going to turn into a beautiful yellow butterfly.

I began this page using a piece of card stock that was in my recycle bin.  I made a boo-boo on the other side, but this side was still acceptable.  I sewed two pieces of security envelopes together with the doily I had hoarded/saved from under my tea cup in a high end restaurant.  There was also one under the tea pot, so I'm sure this will be the month to use it, too.  The butterfly started life as a calendar page.  Only the variegated thread and the sentiment had never previously experienced life in a different form.

This is Day 8 of 22 and I re-purposed part of a calendar page, a doily, used card stock, and security envelopes to create a page in my art journal.

I genuinely appreciate you spending time with me today.    Thank you beyond belief for your continued support of my art.  Today, you will once again find me at Art Journal Journey and Try it on TuesdayHope to see you both places, too.

Not only you made me happy with this wonderful page with it's amazing composition of recycled items and the beautiful sewing you added -- I like your sewed pages especially as you know.I am going to sew something for AJJ in one of myjournals today as well!
But you also made me happy to introduce this architect to me, I didn't know him yet and I googled his quotes and they are just famous !
I love this one and it made my morning:
"Never forget that you are one of a kind. Never forget that if there weren't any need for you in all your uniqueness to be on this earth, you wouldn't be here in the first place. And never forget, no matter how overwhelming life's challenges and problems seem to be, that one person can make a difference in the world. In fact, it is always because of one person that all the changes that matter in the world come about. So be that one person."
R. Buckminster Fuller

I wish you a happy Sunday my friend!
You are so busy recycling this month - a great inspiration for everybody dear Dr.E.!
Thank you for linking this beautiful page to Art Journal Journey and to Try It On Tuesday !
♥♥♥

Very pretty page Elizabeth. The colors remind me of your visiter's hair. Perfect for spring. And lilacs are my of my favorite flowers! I can smell them in my mind now. I like all the bits you sewed on your pag. You are lucky that your bearthday challenge and the AJJ theme are similar. :) Have a great rest of your weekend. Hugs-Erika

It's cold out today (no snow at least!) so your pretty butterfly page sings of Spring. I especially like the use of the lace doily which mimics the look of the lilacs. Your weather sounds a bit like mine, not Spring-like, so stay warm. Give your boys an extra cuddle for me.

Beautiful! I'm looking forward to the butterflies :) and your art makes the vision in my mind clear on the page. A sunny 60s day today. Butterflies will be here before I know it, and in the meantime your piece will comfort me.
