The Butterfly Emerges in Spring

I'm once again joining Rosie at Rosie's Kleine Bastelwelt (Rosie's Small Craft World) this month's host at Art Journal Journey with her theme Spring.

And nothing speaks of spring better than butterflies flitting through the early spring flowers.

I colored the quote, but when I did, I tore it.  It reads "We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty."

l was once again able to get into my craft room for a couple of hours and sewed this collage together.   I haven't sewn anything for so long, it felt really good.

For this page I created in my large art journal, I began by sewing the three collage elements together, then I sewed them to the pink backing page.  The focal image was from a calendar that I cut to size, and the quote was computer generated.  I left the strings long on the variegated thread to denote movement.

I am simply thrilled you joined me today.    Thank you beyond belief for your continued support of my art.  Today, you will find me at Art Journal JourneyHope to see you there, too.

Beautiful piece, love the stitching. Got computer problems, excuse my brevity! Valerie

I love butterflies! I also love the texture created by the stitching, something that I've not tried, but perhaps I should try and incorporate some hand stitching into a canvas - food for thought! Happy Springtime

Nice. You are right about butterflies saying nice spring weather. Do you have butterflies yet? Keeping this short this morning, (could be a slippery drive to work so I need to get moving) but did want to say I love your latest page. :) Enjoy your day! Hugs-Erika

I think looking at your lovely butterfly page is the only way I will see butterflies for quite sometime. The weather dudes are hinting at another big storm next week.

Nice theme, love butterflies, it's a pity we don't many nowadays.
The loose stitching is interesting and as you say gives it some movement.

This is beautiful Elizabeth! You made a good decision to leave the threads - they really add to this! Apologies for not being around in blogland! Today was the fourth day we have been out for most of the day and I have been trying to do the gelli plate challenge in between while! By the time the evenings have come all I want to do is sit and watch TV (or doze in front of it...grin)Hugs,Chrisx
