Earth Hour

I am once again celebrating Earth Hour.

Earth Hour is a worldwide event sponsored by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), or World Wildlife Fund as it is still officially known in Canada and the U.S.

According to the Earth Hour website:
Starting as a symbolic lights out event in Sydney in 2007, Earth Hour is now the world's largest grassroots movement for the environment, inspiring millions of people to take action for our planet and nature.

For one hour from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm in your time zone, each of us is encouraged to turn off non-essential electric lights, computers, and other electronic appliances/devices for one hour.

This couldn't come at a better time, and according to World Wildlife's web site:
Earth Hour 2018 comes at a critical moment in the fight against climate change. After the United States announced its intent to withdraw from the Paris Agreement—the world’s first truly global plan to address climate change—more than 2,500 leaders across America’s state houses, city halls, board rooms, faith organizations, and college campuses stepped up to say they are still committed to meeting America’s climate goals.
Entire communities are stepping up and participating, but even if your community isn't it doesn't mean you shouldn't do your part.  I'm definitely doing mine.

I haven't heard of this since your last year's post. I wonder why it isn't advertised more as i would do it if I knew. Good for you for participating. Hugs-Erika

This is an event I'd never heard about until I found your blog Elizabeth.
So far I haven't seen any reference to it where I live. perhaps I am living or looking in the wrong places.
It is a great idea and would be amazing if everyone were aware of it.

I remembered Earth Hour at about 10 that night :( There's very little promotion of it around here. I'm glad to see you still observe it :)
