Outside Our Comfort Zone

I guess it's obvious I'm once again joining Rike at Rike's Art who is this month's host at Art Journal Journey with her theme Animals A to Z.

I was aiming for a bit of humor with this page.

"We leaped outside our comfort zone and made a new friend in the process."

The inspiration for this entry came when I received this ad in my mailbox and simply had to use it.  I don't even remember what the ad was for, but it was too clever to throw away.

Then I found the calendar page and the entire piece came together very quickly.  I created this in my large art journal.  The words were computer generated and carefully colored with my blue metallic gel pen.  My only regret is that I was unable to figure out a good way to blend the two images together better.

I am simply thrilled you joined me today.  I really appreciate your visit because it means the world to me.  I hope to see you at Art Journal Journey, too.   Don't you just adore Rike's theme this month?

This is indeed a fun page, and I saw penguins and a camel recently at the zoo, although they were not talking to each other....Have a great Sunday, hugs, Valerie

I am in love with your funny collage! It is such a cool tale, you had the best idea ever! I think there is no use to blend the two pictures better together, the story works!
I really appreciate your linking this outstanding page to Art Journal Journey!

Another, 'I love this fantastic page', the words and pictures are really fun to see on a cold Sunday morning. The camel is one cool dude, what a haughty expression these animals have.

This page made me smile. Sometimes we're so worried about getting out of our comfort zone, and then something really unexpected and good happens.

Perhaps to blend the images better, carefully tear and deckle the edges of the insert picture to the edge isn't so sharp? You'd have to be real careful at the top where the camel's head is as there isn't a lot of space to work with. The torn edges would be thinner and maybe white from the under layer of paper. You could color the deckled edges. Just a thought.

A fun one! I had to chuckle because I'm like you- just cannot toss out a great image like the camel and the penguin. You made good use of it.

This is a great photo and I would have to use it too. I do love this latest challenge- although how to pick an animal? There are so many cool ones to chose from. Happy almost new week. Hugs-Erika
