Step Up

Before we begin today, I want to thank everyone for your well wishes for my friend Sally.  When I told her about all your well wishes, she was truly touched.  Although this place we visited has outpatient surgeries, she told me it was set up like a real hospital.  There were five people who attended her, including the doctor, the anesthesiologist, nurses, etc, just like, according to Sally, a real operating room.   We were home by noon and with the "boot" she was given, she was walking surprisingly well by herself.  Since I had not gotten any real sleep for two days, I crashed as soon as I was home.  But I truly want to thank each of you for your kind words and concern for my dear friend.  We now return to our regularly scheduled post!

I'm once again joining Erika at Bio Art Gal this month's host at Art Journal Journey with her theme New Year, New Adventures.

It's time to

step up to

your next

(maybe on an airplane?)

adventure.

For this page I created in my Challenges altered book, I began by laying down white and deep blue water soluble crayons (the Christmas gift from Cindy that keeps on giving).  While the paint was drying, I cut the airplane from a book and wrote out the sentiment using a blue metallic gel pen.  Since I wasn't sure I wouldn't mess up on the sentiment, I wrote it on white paper, then added it to the spread.

Thanks for joining me today at Art Journal Journey.   And thanks for your visit, your concern for my neighbor and friend Sally, and continued support of my art.  I am so incredibly grateful to each of you.

What a fab vintage illustration you have used here dear Elizabeth! The white elements make the blue background even more bright and beautiful. A terrific effect. A beautiful AB page for Erika's theme! Thank you for another fantastic idea linked to the collection Ms.Co-Admin! I am happy to hear that Sally's surgery went so well obviousley! She is lucky to have such a wonderful friend like you - I am sure she knows and appreciates that!♥ All my best wishes for her recovery!

It was good to read that Sally's surgery went well. I am not surprised you had a rest when you got home.
Its a fabulous shade of blue for the background of your page, you know how I love bold colours. Its a great cut out airplane you added and you added a great word quote as well.
I'd step up to the adventure but would have to pass by the airplane flight as I have a real fear of flying.

Just caught up on your posts, and glad that Sally's op went well and she is on the road to recovery. Love the art in your previous post on the museum. I do like this very striking page, blue has always been my favourite colour. Hope you've caught up on missed sleep now!

I am ready to step up for an adventure. This winter weather is getting old. Today is nice though so I think a little adventure is in the works with hubby and I, but nothing like hoping a plane and heading to warmth or snowless horizons. :) I love your page-it is very inspiring. Glad to hear Sally came through everything ok, and that you got some sleep. I slept in this morning and I do feel better doing so. happy Saturday! Hugs-Erika

Glad to hear Sally is doing well after her procedure. I love the deep blue you were able to achieve with the crayons. I’m so glad you’re making such good use of them! That’s a great retro image and the addition of your words makes this an all around great page.

Although the art journal is not really my thing (it is good that we all like different things I guess), but it still fascinates me. I just wouldn't look at it and see what you do, but that's what makes it interesting for me to read about.
And although Verlene's art work in Friday's post is quite alien to me, I really like all the bright colours and textures.
I hope you feel better now you have had some sleep. Kate x

I'm glad Sally's surgery was successful and that she is healing well. My next adventure will certainly not be on a plane, but I wouldn't turn it down ;)

Good news about Sally! I'm not surprised you were tired! I love your journal page - as you know, our last few adventures have either been by car or train....but I'm not ruling out a journey by plane!! Enjoy the remainder of the weekend Chrisx

I am loving that royal blue in your background. The black and white image really pops. And I love the little touches that make the words looked stitched.
So glad to hear that Sally is recovering from her surgery. What a wonderful friend you were to be there for her.
Happy Weekend,
Kate
