Friday Smiles 253

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and happy, safe New Year.  By now, many of you know I have a ton of photos from the History Museum I visited on Smithsonian Day.  I thought I would share a few more of these photos each Friday for awhile, along with some funny stories, quotes, verse, or jokes I found when I was cleaning my office.  I'm actually thrilled to be back joining you again.

I'll share the funny stuff first, then you can see and enjoy the photos of the museum. By now you know I'm here for Annie's Friday Smiles.

A burglar came in through the window and when he got inside he heard this voice saying "Jesus will get you, Jesus will get you."  Then he saw this parrot and said "Shut up."  Just then a big bulldog came into the doorway.  The parrot shouted, "Sickum Jesus."

Q.:  Do you know why cowboys roll up the sides of their hats?
A.:  So three of them can ride abreast in a pickup.

Ishtar was some woman.  She was goddess of both love and war.  Of course, if you are married, you know that the two are closely related.

One woman confided to another: "I don't want a perfect man, just one with faults I like."

Don't marry for money.  You can borrow it cheaper.
            ~Scottish proverb

I was young and foolish then, now I am old and foolisher.

Now let's head to my second favorite room in the museum, the Drug Store.

Don't you just love those heart shaped stools and chairs?

What I wouldn't give to have this bank of drawers and storage units.  They can keep their mirror, though.

Seems I photo bombed myself as I tried to take a photo of the scales.

Now let's head to Annie's where starting the weekend with a smile is priceless!

Hi Elizabeth! Thanks for the laughs, and the peek inside that wonderful museum. Drawer heaven!
The round teabags are Tetley tea that we have here in the UK. I could send you some of my hoard if you like. Almost like having tea together! :-)
Happy Friday!

Hi Elizabeth, fabulous photos today. That room and all the gorgeous wooden furniture, I so love it. Loving your funnies too. Squiggles might be on the plump side but I think our squirrel would give him a run for the money....or maybe not as they are both to fat to run Lol! Have a great weekend and big hugs, Angela xXx

Love the beautiful cabinets in the drug store and the glassware. Form, function, and beauty. Too bad some of that is lost today. The heart shaped stools remind me of an old-fashioned ice cream parlor I used to visit with a school chum. We would ride our bikes there to have a treat. Thanks for the happy memories to start my day.

I don't know why, but the cowboy joke really made me laugh! I loved seeing the Drug Store, especially that storage unit! Were they serving drinks in the other half of that room? As you can see I am waaay behind - we spent two days up and down the motorway to be with our grandchildren while their Dad's school started back earlier! We have ben so tired today! Off to see what I've missed! Hugs, Chrisx

I enjoy the museums that set up scenes like that where you can actually see yourself in the setting. Those drawers would be handy to have.

I can see why you liked the drugstore room. I remember a places when I was very young that still had the drugstore ice cream counter. But it is a vague memory. This place is just beautiful, and can you image what it really was like? Better than Walgreens or Rite Aid. And nope, I didn't have to pay for the Japan tickets. The school district pays and I just need spend money. However, the kids have to pay for their tickets, but it makes sense that we don't pay because we need to spend our own vacation time being in charge of the kids. But it is worth it to give up a week vacation and have some kid duty to actually go see Japan. Especially with only 8 kids (and the 2 I know are really good kids) plus 4 other adults. But guess who was told they were being lead chaperone? Yup me. Hope you get a little moisture and have a great weekend. Hugs-Erika

Loved the jokes:)The Drug Store was a lovely room, very warm and Rockwellian. I'm sorry to say, the only thing I could make out in the photo bomb is your arms. Darn it.:)
Have a wondrous weekend, dear Elizabeth.

This is so fascinating to see! Drugstores are certainly nothing like they used to be, are they? I remember hanging out in Woolworth's for a cheeseburger and coke several times a week, and they also had this really neat merchandise. Thanks for a glimpse of the past. And yes, those heart chairs are pretty phenomenal! Happy Saturday! Hugs...RO

Haha, those are really funny!

I really like this...I don't know why, but I feel like I saw a television show and this place (or one that looked like it) was featured!
