Friday Smiles 250

By now, many of you know I have a ton of photos from the History Museum I visited for Smithsonian Day.  I thought I would share a few more of these photos each Friday for awhile.  However, this will be my last Friday Smiles until after the new year.  My calendar has gotten so full, I must spend more time completing my Christmas gifts, some of which I still haven't started.  However, I will be back after the first of the year with more funnies, quotes, etc.

Since it's nearly Christmas, I'll share a few Christmas jokes, then you can see and enjoy the photos of the museum. By now you know I'm here for Annie's Friday Smiles.  Don't boo me out of the building, please.  I'm just typing what I found when I cleaned my office.

What do sheep say at Christmas?
Wool-tide Bleatings! or A Merry Christmas to Ewe!

What's the name of the one horse in "Jingle Bells"?
Bob. (Bells on Bob's tail ring!)

Children: This turkey tastes like an old sofa!
Mom: Well, you asked for something with plenty of stuffing!

What happened to the man who stole an Advent Calendar?
He got 25 days!

What did the beaver say to the Christmas Tree?
Nice gnawing you!

Why are Christmas Trees like bad knitters?
They keep loosing their needles!

What did Adam say on the day before Christmas?
It's Christmas, Eve!

How does Christmas Day end?
With the letter 'Y'!

How does Good King Wenceslas like his pizzas?
One that's deep pan, crisp, and even!

Who hides in the bakery at Christmas?
A mince spy!

and FINALLY:

What's worse than Rudolph with a runny nose?
Frosty the snowman with a hot flash!

I'll now share the last of the photos from one of my favorite rooms in the museum.  Even though it is indicative of times gone by in Wichita, KS, I suspect this will bring back memories of days gone by for many of you today.

You may remember

this is where we left off last time.

Continuing in this room, I'll let you read the minutia at your speed and convenience.

This room really loves Robert Louis Stevenson.

The closer I got, the worse the lighting.

OK, I admit I got a little carried away here.  I had a hard time getting this beauty because of the three mirrors surrounding the carousel horse that reflected everywhere I stood.

I just LOVE some of those old and vintage items, like the radio and lamp.

Little boys and their toys!

Baby carriages and chests were next.

I'm amazed.  i have one of these carriages, but mine has isinglass windows on both sides.

These are the famous Beachy dolls given to the museum by Mrs. Cyrus Beachy.  She had quite a collection.

It's now time to say good-bye to the children's room and head to

my next favorite room in this museum.  I'll start in this room once I've joined you again in January.

Let's now head to Annie's Friday Smiles at A Stitch in Time because it never hurts to start the weekend with a smile.  And thanks beyond belief for joining me today.

Loved the funnies....we babysat for the twins last night and they are the delightful age of telling knock knock jokes. The museum is a place I could spend many hours esp in the baby and child rooms. Thanks for sharing your lovely photos.
I look forward to your return after Christmas but for now I wish you everything you wish for yourself my friend.
Hugs,
Annie x

What do they say? "The old ones are the best" I'm not so sure but they made me grin Lol! Wonderful museum, thank you so much for sharing the photos with us. Have a lovely weekend, Angela xXx

Ha-ha-ha! Those a silly but I have to admit on a Friday morning when I am very tired I enjoyed them. Not too complicated and my brain didn't have to work too hard. :) And I like seeing the old toys. Most are a little too old for me except for the old parcheesi board. Nice to see it looked the same as the ones I remember. I don't think I ever learned to play Parcheesi though.
If I did I can't remember the the rules. Happy Friday. Hugs-Erika

Loved the bad puns! they were sooo good. Was fun looking around the museum. That carousel horse was something. I liked the Hopalong Cassidy poster. I had a Hopalong Cassidy lunch box. Ma was not sentimental about toys. That thing is probably worth a small fortune today. Hope your keyboard problems get resolved, you get all your gifts and preparations done. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Headbutts and cuddles to the boys. =^..^=

Wonderful funnies today! I had fun reading them out to hubby so he could guess the answer and he came up with a good one for:

"What do sheep say at Christmas?"
Baa-humbug!

...lol 😉. What an amazing museum, I so enjoyed seeing all the exhibits especially the beautiful carousel horse! Wishing you a Happy Friday and Weekend! J 😊
p.s. thanks for your lovely comments on my blog! Yes, it is a variety of suet pudding, I should have guessed that Christmas pudding was more of a English thing ...lol 😀 ... so I've now added some facts about Christmas pudding to my blog, thanks! J x

Well, you did make me smile with those silly jokes. The sort of old fashioned children's jokes.
Thank you for taking me to the museum again. What fun! I certainly recognise some of the board games. The one on the floor agains the wall we used to call Ludo or 'Mens Erger Je Niet'(Tr. Man, dot' get annoyed). I also played with a version of that electrical quiz. That was fun.
I recognise quite a few of the boys' toys too.
Ha, I thought of you when I saw that caroussle horse! I knew that you would love that most of all. It's a beauty.
That doll collection is amazing!
I can't wait to see the next bit. But I know I have to wait until the next year. That's OK, we're all a bit busy these days.
I just read your comment on Angela's blog about her scones with cheese. A scone in England is what you would call a biscuit, so to have one with cheese is not so unusual. Traditionally we have them with clotted cream and jam, but as they are not sweet, one can easily combine them with savoury items.
Hubby and I will flying out to Holland on Wednesday to celebrate Christmas and the New Year with my mother. I'm really looking forward to it and already have a half packed suitcase on the spare bed.
I wish you and Bluebeard a very happy Christmas and a healthy and safe New Year.

I actually knew about 'bells on bob's tail ring' I think it's very cute.
I love these posts from the museum..they are so interesting, informative and really beautiful.
thank you for sharing this one Elizabeth.
you know, some of the games and toys remind me of the things my older brother had stashed away.
Happy Friday to you!
(ps, I'd NEVER think you were a fool! thank you for your concern:X)

I am loving your Christmas jokes! I am going to have to share these with my boys...they LOVE telling jokes.
You visit some very interesting museums. That room with the dolls caught my eye. I have a doll collection but only one that is vintage. I love the vintage composite dolls as they have beautiful clothing and unique faces. Although some can be quite creepy;)

Bells on Bob’s tail ring really made me laugh, and I enjoyed all the others too.
I like the reflection of the carousel horse it makes it look as if he (or she) is smiling.
Thank you for sharing all the photos. x

More fabulous interesting photos from the museum. I think I have already said that this would be somewhere I would spend hours looking around as well.

I can see why this room is a favorite. I think it would be one of mine, too. A terrific museum.

And the jokes -- Oh, I wish I had the kids (as they were then) around. They'd love these too!

Lovely pictures from the museum. All those toys that were so loved by some child once upon a time. The first photo made me smile. My two oldest sons (now 46 and 44), were choir boys and looked just as angelic as that in their robes.

Your jokes were fun and made me smile. Enjoy your run up to Christmas and the celebrations themselves.
See you again in the New Year. Kate x

The other day on television a couple was arguing over getting a regular baby carriage which was about $300 versus a top of the line one which cost a little over $1000. When I look at your pics it just reminds me of how simple life used to be, and I often miss it. There was a lady at a yard sale a couple weekends ago, who was selling her baby carriage. It was white and looked really nice. I couldn't believe she was selling something over 40 years old for just $25! Thanks for the memories and always sharing these pics. Hugs...RO
