August complete and September ready in my never ending calendar

August is finally over and hopefully cooler weather will begin to prevail.

I got the idea to decorate this page when I saw all the hype about the total solar eclipse.  I thought all these heavenly bodies (mostly smiling suns) with their shades, were perfect, even though, where I was, the eclipse was not as dramatic as the build-up to the event had been.  I leave you to read the rest of my boring and moldy life.

Yes, my friend Scott's father died last Saturday morning and the funeral was Wednesday.

September is now ready to write in.  I am slowly feeling a bit better, but every time I say I'm getting better, I go out and do something that sets me back again.

Last night (Aug 31), I went with a friend to look at a house she wants to buy.  It's quite a mess, but she thinks it just needs a bit of cleaning and repair to make it her dream house.  When I saw it (we only looked at the outside), I said it looked like it had been plucked out of the English countryside of Midsomer Murders.  I can even imagine a dead body in the upstairs hallway, even though she's been inside and assures me it is in better shape inside than out (and no dead bodies, either).   Once I get the photos off my camera (we didn't get back till nearly 10 pm and I still had to finish my calendar and scan it), I'll share it.  For those of you who have seen the show, you will know what I mean.  For those of you who live in England, think English country homes (not castles).  For the rest of you, think about how much work she'll have if she gets the place.

Thanks for joining me as I share my farcical calendar each month.  Many of my art friends create beautiful calendars that put mine to shame.  I just appreciate you coming by and seeing these pages month after month after month.

Hope you are now feeling better and will stay feeling better! The calendar with the suns looks great. That old country house sounds good. I lived in one in England before I came here, and it was lovely, but a never ending building site....Have a great day, hugs, Valerie

What a great idea for a calendar. I totally get the reference to the house and your friends seems taken by it so hopefully she gets it and make a turnaround. Hang in there and take things easy at your end. Warm greetings and best wishes!

Gosh you have had many ups and downs last month, so sad for Scott.
It was good to see your completed page, the 'suns' did brighten it up with the smiling faces.
I hope September will be a better month and you keep getting stronger as the days pass by. I look forward to seeing the photos of the English style house.

Hoping September is a better month for you. I found August too busy myself. It is almost shocking to me that we are into the last third of the year already.

I think the eclipse hype was worth it. Got a lot of us to go outside and share an experience together. Was refreshing after all the negative news lately. The suns on your calendar made me smile.

Condolences to Scott.

We love Midsomer Murders. So your description made me laugh. It's a wonder there's still a population in Midsomer. Can't wait to see pictures of the house.

Feel better

So sad for Scott - I am sorry ♥
and I really hope that you feel now much better and that no more relapse follows !
Always inspiring to see your monthly calendar pages - I really want to start one in 2018 as well.
To buy an old house can sometimes be like to buy a piggy bank. It is important to let check whether works
become due which concern the substance and security of a house - otherwise it can ruin you - but I am sure your friend knows that. We are lucky that even though we have to renovate since we bought our nearly 80 years "old" house 7 years ago- the substance was and is really good - much better than the most of the now built prefabricated homes. Maybe it's similar with this old building your friend has fallen in love with - but she should know that she has to pay out a great deal of money to get a perfect home nevertheless. All is so expensive nowadays. Even though we made so much by ourselves it costed us nearly 3000 Euro just to actual renovate the long fence. The good thing that you decide yourself when and into what you invest your money and not any building managements decide about your finances as they made it in our former cooperative flat . Hope to see some pictures of this old english styled home!
Happy weekend

I'm glad you're feeling a bit better, Elizabeth. You've had a rough couple of weeks. I don't know how you keep up with everything when you're not well. I'm sorry to hear about Scott's dad. May better days be ahead for you both ;-)

I'm sorry about your friend's father and hope he finds peace in the days ahead.

A Midsomer Murders house! What a delight! I look forward to seeing your photos.

A new month--like a clean slate. :)
If a person could do all the fixing up one can get a great deal and make it your own. I'd love to see the pictures. Watched all Midsomer Murders! ;)

Hi there, wow what a busy time you have. Thank you for your visits over the last months sorry not to be posting so much. Garden and life is getting in the way of blogging, maybe once "Autumn" comes I will have more time.

Love your comments and do see your blog each day with interest so I am here.

Much love x

Love all the bright sunshine joy on your calendar for August. It really makes it quite happy! I'm kind of sad summer is moving quickly away, as it is here, but I guess I just have to set my mindset to fall. :) As homeowners we know houses are never just cleaning up, are they. There are always things to do, and never enough cash to do it. The house sounds interesting. Can't wait to see the photos. Enjoy your weekend. Hugs-Erika

Pleased that you felt well enough to go with your friend but so sad to hear about Scott's Dad! I love the shade wearing sun faces - once again you know just what to add to your calendars to make them special! Look forward to seeing the 'English Country House' - sounds as though the renovation work could be expensive though! Hugs, Chrisx
