T Stands For Total Solar Eclipse

I was one of the lucky millions who got to see most of the total eclipse today (Monday, August 21, 2017).

I want to thank NASA and Wikipedia for this image.  Apparently, most of the U.S. and Canada got to see at least a partial solar eclipse, while at least half of South America was unaffected, and most of Europe, Asia, Africa, and Australia were already in darkness when the eclipse occurred.

Even though I had another post planned, I thought I would keep it brief today with

this image from Pexels.com that sort of reminded me of the solar eclipse.

Since most of my international friends didn't get to partake of this event, I'll turn things over to each of you.  I'm sure your tales will be even more relevant than mine.   Your post can be photos, a place you visited, movies, postcards, books, sketches, mixed media, drawings, paintings, tags, scrapbooking, or other art that is digital, hybrid, or traditional, as long as it in some way relates back to a drink, any drink.  Regardless, please share below and Bleubeard (who also survived the eclipse) and I, along with the rest of the T gang will be by to visit.   Please link only your T post and not your blog in general.  Old photos are acceptable because they may be taken at any time.

An eclipse in a cup of coffee sounds like a great idea! I'm sorry we couldn't see the eclipse over here. Hope you are feeling better, hugs, Valerie

Oh Elizabeth! I do hope you feel better soon! I remember the eclipse here in 1999, our newspaper gave away special viewing specs which we shared around the neighbours! I remember how it suddenly went cold and then an eerie light afterwards. I hope you were able to appreciate it! Hugs, Chrisx

It is quite an experience to see an eclipse, I think the memories last us a very long time and it effects is in different ways.
It was the stillness that I remember from the last one I saw.
Your photo with the cup of coffee is a very so dramatic.
Happy T day and i hope you are feeling a lot better today.

I hope you are feeling better today! Like Chris and Yvonne I remember the eclipse, it was an amazing experience and I hope you enjoyed watching it too 😁. Great image for this T Tuesday and I can see how it reminds you of the eclipse too - wishing you a very Happy T Day! J 😊

I also remember an eclipse I saw. One as a child and one as an adult (the 19999 one). I remember finding the sudden darkness quite scary.
I like you eclipse in a cup!
Happy T-Day,
Lisca

Sorry about the typo. Of course I meant 1999!

I am jealous you got to see the total eclipse. It didn't even get a little dark here, and I wanted those moments of darkness. I did see the 60% we had here, which was cool, but not as cool as the total eclipse. Oh well, one will be here in NH 7 years. I can't wait. The cup was a fabulous idea because watching the images on the internet and tv, it was really impressive. Happy T day. Hugs-Erika

oh how wonderful that you got to see the total eclipse Elizabeth! Only a partial in my parts but I still enjoyed the phenomenon. Happy T day!

We didn't get but a partial eclipse here, just tinted the light a bit....not really worth writing about.:( BUT I do remember the LAST one in 1979.
Happy T-day

We had a partial eclipse - the light was a bit dimmer and the air cooler, but other than it was pretty uneventful. Folks were still quite excited about it!

PS - thanks for the birthday wishes. A little late (the 5th) but much appreciated! I like to celebrate my 'birthday month' (being a Leo, it's all about me anyway - haha).

Great post! Living in NC, I was able to experience this pretty closely, and just about everyone in the neighborhood did as well. Very fascinating event! Hugs...RO

Such a huge event to experience and to see must have been wonderful. Love the coffee cup image you found that represents the event.

Have a very happy T Day Elizabeth. I posted an envelope to you and Bluebeard hope it arrives soon

Happy T-Day!

Darn it, we didn't see a thing. Coverage was only supposed to be 70% here to begin with and then we had a very heavy marine layer covering our sky. I am glad you were able to see it.

Thanks for your comment and I'm glad that you found the English/American word list ok on my blog 😀. If I get time I'll start a new list with the words you sent me too. If you remember it was actually Lisca who started the whole thing off so there is also her list to consider too 😁. I seem to remember that Lisca posted it on T Day the week before mine, on 27th June, if that helps. Many thanks, J 😊

We didn't notice anything this far off (center of the eclispde in the NASA video) in Mexico. So thank you for sharing the "big picture", Elizabeth. Glad you had a ringside seat and that you enjoyed it. I'll catch it on the news.

We've had one of those days from hell - website- & internet-wise - so I'm delighted to even make it to the party today!

Happy T-Day! Hugs, Eileen

Hi Elizabeth! Happy T day to you......I seem to remember an eclipse back in the 70's when i must have been about 11 or 12. I must have been in the area of totality because i remember it being much more impressive than it was this time... Yesterday i was in the 90% of totality... For me it wasn't about 'watching ' the eclipse but watching what happened around me... As a kid i remember everything going so dark the stars came out ... the temperature cooled off... a hushness about things... but thats just the impression of an 11 yr old.. but its stuck with me all these years.. Hubby had never seen one... or experienced one and at 90% i thought we would get more of one. The quality of light changed.... it looked like it does before a bad storm moves in... and the temp may have dropped a few degrees but thats it... 100% totality was only 100 miles away... we should have went... I hope you have a wonderful T day!! Hugs! deb

We saw peeks at it as the clouds filtered in and out until the completely obscured the sun.

It was wondrous wasn't it, Elizabeth?
We waited too long to start looking for glasses, couldn't find them and had to make a box. Just wasn't quite the same. And it wasn't a total eclipse in our area. But still fun.
Love the tracking the eclipse graphic.
YOU have a great one.

The eclipse certainly was a big media thing...tv coverage and all. I glimpsed a shot of the video on tv, but where we were in Ohio, there was big cloud cover. (It was rather nice to hear news of an event that wasn't political!) kind of a non-event for us...and hadn't planned ahead to view properly anyway. guess we missed a big opportunity. Our son and his family had a good view in Tennessee though, and I was glad the kids got to have the day off from school to participate in the viewing with family and friends. great images for your blog by the way! happy Tuesday! hope you are feeling better from your basement clean-up! hugs...♥

We got 93% here, but we also got cloud cover before it reached that point. We still enjoyed what we saw :)

Cappuccinoandartjournal.blogspot.com said...

Well...this is San Francisco...and we had fog....so, for me, it was pretty much a non-event.....

watched NASA'S website almost the whole afternoon and got very
little work done; but hten no one did really... and a volunteer came in with a pair of the glasses for us to view it with...we were at 86 percent totality and saw the eclipse at ...maybe 3/4 around 2.... 2024 we are supposed to be 100 percent !! hi to bleu and squiggles =^..^= ♥♥☺☺

So cool you got to see the total eclipse. Hope you had an enjoyable, geeky experience. Love the coffee cup image you chose to represent the eclipse. Hope you had a Happy T Day. I love Tuesdays. So glad I found you and your meme. Thank you.

We just had a partial eclipse which I did not view except to notice that it dimmed here slightly like it was ready to rain. I love the coffee as the moon eclipse...fun.

Dear Elizabeth,
I've been mostly off-line and didn't know you have not been very well - hope it has cleared up by now.
I'm glad you saw the eclipse. I remember when it was here, we were in the garden and the sky went ominously dark and it became very quiet.

My eclipse story? The sun was bright, no darkness or shadow in Toronto. But a kind bellhop gave me a peek through his glasses and that was good enough!
