T Stands For DeFazio's

It's time to head to DeFazio's for T Tuesday.  Since I forgot to get a photo of the outside of the restaurant, I grabbed one from when my foodie friend Sally and I were there before.

The exterior was the only thing that was the same.  The entire interior had been remodeled, seating was different and the floors were new.   There was also a new menu, but I failed to get a copy of it.  And their web site (http://www.defaziositalian.com/) shows the menu, but no prices.  They do show the newly remodeled interior, though.

My Italian salad came with my meal, but Sally ordered one on the side.   Note that I also ordered ranch dressing, while Sally opted for the traditional "house" vinegar and oil blend.

Thankfully, our food arrived before I finished my salad.   Because I'm of British descent, I grew up eating salad after the main course and before any dessert was served.   I'd just as soon wait to eat it later, but that's not how it's served in the U.S.

I ordered shrimp scampi, and had my choice of pastas, vegetables, or baked potato.  Naturally, I chose fettuccini.  I also got the toast with my meal, while Sally ordered a pizza.  We both took food home with us, and she also took a $6.00 (USD) cream puff home.  Her salad set her back $4.50 (USD) and her pizza was considered large.  I had better luck with my scampi, loving every minute of it.  Surprisingly, we didn't have to wait as we normally do when we go there.  Sometimes the wait is very long.  This time it was not.

As we were leaving, I dropped my camera, but caught it before it could hit the floor.  I didn't realize I had taken a photo, but even though it was out of focus, you can see a small part of the remodel.

It's time for you to share your drink related post this week.  It can be photos, a place you visited, movies, postcards, books, sketches, mixed media, drawings, paintings, tags, scrapbooking, or other art that is digital, hybrid, or traditional, as long as it in some way relates back to a drink, any drink.  Regardless, please share below and Bleubeard and I, along with the rest of the T gang will be by to visit.   Please link only your T post and not your blog in general.  Old photos are acceptable because they may be taken at any time.

My jaw dropped twice reading this post, Elizabeth. 1. Good catch on the camera! 2. Boy, I hope Sally enjoyed her $6 cream puff!!

I didn't know that the English have their salad after the main course. Now I'm wondering which makes more sense. As if any customs we humans devise have to make sense - lol.

Happy T-day! Hugs, Eileen

Eating salad at the end of a meal is also an Italian thing. My Dad ate his salad that way, too. American restaurants didn't want patrons fidgeting while waiting for their meal so bread and salad were brought to the table first. Or so I heard. Both meals looked amazing. I love shrimp scampi, but the thought of a cream puff is making my mouth water. I'm so glad I'm not the only one who takes pictures of the floor. Happy T Day!

That looks like a really nice meal. Well, I'm biased. I have lived in Italy for so long, so I love Italian food.
When I was in the States, I got caught out on the salad thing more tan once. I like my salad with my meal, not before. I kept forgetting and on one occasion the server took it away when I wasn't looking. I was quite upset as I had been saving it to have with my main!
Here in Spain we get our salad quite early on, but at least they don't whisk it away. Your salad looks really good too.
Catchiong the camera as it falls. That is clever. Even more so now you have taken a photo. Well done you.
Happy T-Day,
Lisca

Uh Oh! Now I am worrying that I am not very English as I like my salad with my meal - although not if I have hot veggies with my meal! Usually you can order side salad with your meal or as one restaurant chain does -go to a salad bar and choose salad as a starter! I once went for a fish and chips meal and it came with mushy peas(as is right and proper!) and a salad on the same plate -YUK!!!
Your food looks delicious and I'm betting you will go back there again soon!
Hope you are recovering and taking it easy - no need to rush here, Hugs, Chrisxx

Happy to be catching up with you again. Looks like a great lunch- I really like your choice:) Funny about salad serving. In France we usually also have salad after our main entree but here I serve it first. Happy T day!

You know i have heard that its better for you to eat your salad a the end of the meal because the salad takes so long to digest that way the rest of your food can be digested and the salad can linger... anyway just something i heard ... don't remember where... I for one would find it odd to eat the salad at the end of the meal... probably because i was raised that way... Happy happy T day Elizabeth... Your food looks awesome!!! Hugs! deb

I didn't know we Brits tend to eat our salad after our main mean... but I don't often order salad with my dinners... Anyhow, glad you caught your camera, that could have been a costly trip!

So funny, I'm with Chris and unsure about what nationality I am now as I like my salad either before or with my meal ...lol 😁. I would love some of that shrimp and fettuccini and I bet the bread was perfect with the buttery sauce too - yum! You had quick reactions to catch your camera, phew! Wishing you a Happy T Day! J 😊

Nice meal Elizabeth and the prices seem to be so much cheaper than Australian restaurant prices, although I know our salaries are also a lot higher.
Quick reaction catching your camera before it hit the floor, it could have done some damage.

I'm not a big fan of Italian food. That's not to say I won't eat it but it wouldn't be my first choice of places to go. The salad looked yummy though. And those Italians sure know how to make some yummy bread...esp smothered in garlic and butter.
Happy T day!

The pizza looks good, but it doesn't look "large" lol I'd love to see a small one. The food looks like I'd like eating there. They seem to have a variety, and I like Italian.

Happy T Tuesday!

Your meal looks so good, as I would eat everything in the photo.
Good catch with the camera...haha!
I'm always dragging home half of any meal I eat out, the USA serves too much food, and then wonders why so many are obese.......but so many of us were raised to clean our plates.
My FIL always had his salad at the end of the meal too, and DH occasionally does the same thing. I LOVE my salads and usually eat it all, and that is why I'm dragging food home....LOL!

Happy T-day

Oh Elizabeth, sometimes when you come by my blog and leave the best comments, my head is just spinning with joy! Thank you!

That looks loads of fun but what really impresses me is your great reflexes with the camera. Having dropped mine on its head more than once, I salute you!

thanks for your comments dear E! I had actually forgotten that it was T Tuesday, and that I had scheduled a blog post, until your comment came up on my phone/email notification! it is Hubby's day off, and we've been out and about most of the day...thanks for the offer to assist. I'm just late, as usual.

Looks like your food was delicious... I'm a shrimp lover myself, and the salad definitely looks wonderful. Great to have the nice surprise of less wait time to receive your food.

I did receive your envelope, thank you so much! You should be receiving an envelope from me in a few days too. yes, I know...but I wanted to. ;)

hugs from Ohio! ♥

Good save on the camera! I didn't realize salad came after the main meal in Britain. It looks luscious by the way as did the fettuccini.
Don't you love the foodie outings?
Have a great one, Elizabeth.

P.S. the abbreviation IG in my journal stands for Instagram - the smartphone application that people use to post photos on the account they've created. It's another addiction....!!

Sounds like the food was great ! Deserts always cost so much when you eat out. I try not to buy them but sometimes I'm too weak to resist.
