Off to Boston

I'm headed to Boston, but only in my 7 Continents altered book, a project I have worked on since late 2003 or early 2004.  I've been to Boston, and I'll talk more on that in a moment, but right now I want to share this with all my readers and Erika, this month's host at Art Journal Journey whose theme is "Every journal page tells a story."

Bostonians certainly like their statues of Paul Revere.

Behind the statue is the Old North Church.  It is the oldest Church in Boston and its steeple is the tallest in Boston.  It is actually known as Christ Church, but many call it Old North Church.

For side two, I show I have no love for Boston. 

Here is an image of Boston Common.  Dating from 1634, it is the oldest city park in the U.S..

It was declared a U.S. National Historic Landmark in 1987.

Why don't I care for Boston, you ask.  I'll explain below.

So, why don't I care for Boston?   Because I found the people to be rude.  Maybe some are not rude, but aloof.    But for the most part, I didn't feel welcome in Boston, even though I considered going to MIT (yes, I realize it is across the Charles in Cambridge) for my graduate studies.  And as I told CJ yesterday, I would be stoned if I showed up wearing a Lakers shirt or jacket to a Celtics game!

For this page, I started with another used file folder I spritzed with my shimmering mists.   I cut a sheet of 7-Gypsies paper gifted me by Erika and sewed it to an image I found in a travel magazine.

For the reverse side, I spritzed different colors to match the colors in the images.  I laid down a piece of shamrock ribbon that I carried to the opposite side, to represent the Celtics.  The images came from two different travel magazines, and I wrote the words using three metallic Gelly roll pens.
