T Stands For Zaytun and shopping

On election day, before any election results had been issued, my foodie buddy Sally and I went to lunch at this Mediterranean establishment across town.   This restaurant is located on the east part of town in a shopping center and is rather hard to find.

I already loved the place because of the welcoming patio.

I took a few indoor shots

of the warm and charming place (yes, there were other diners, so you only see a portion of the restaurant)

before I joined Sally at the buffet.

Although the buffet was not cheap (remember this is Wichita, KS, where the average lunch is $7.00 USD or less), it was filling.  Here is the menu, but no mention of the price of the lunch buffet which was $13.95 USD.  I learned the Sunday lunch buffet is $18.95.

I enjoyed the hummus and pita/naan.  The beans and saffron rice were filling, but quite bland.  The other two vegetarian dishes I tried were OK, but not super.  I went back for more hummus and some cucumber yogurt.  Sally really enjoyed the meal.  Of course, we both had water, but I didn't ask a second time for lemon because there was a slight language barrier.   Overall, it was an OK meal, but a bit steep for what I got.

Last Tuesday I was out west.  I went to Sam's for cat food and litter, so both boys have it covered coming and going now.  I also bought another wireless mouse, because I was tired of using the one I have to chase with a cord.  A stop at Dollar Tree for glue dots, then it was on to the new JoAnn's.  All these shops were in a strip of malls that were about two blocks long.  It just made sense to visit all of them at once.

All the fabric was either 50% off, or 60% off (the two Halloween fabrics).  The fat quarters were also 50% off.  So was the beautiful thread called "Zebra stripes."  I had an additional 20% off coupon that came with my membership ad.  I spent a little over $5.00 USD and saved $8.10.  They actually paid me to visit.

I bought 1/4 yard (9 inches) of fabric except the red, of which I bought 12 inches (a foot).  That will show up in at least one, probably two scrappy journal covers soon.

Now it's your turn to join us for T this week.  Any post, as long as it involves a drink, is acceptable.  Your post can be about a movie, fine art, postcard, poster art, sketches, digital, hybrid or traditional art, unique teapots, or you might share your garden, or take us with you as you go out and about like Sally and I did.   Photos do not have to be taken on Tuesday, but you must link below (direct links only, please) to ensure Bleubeard, the "T" gang, and I visit.  Of course, feel free to drop by to see what the "T" gang is up to, and consider joining us for this weekly event either this week or in the future.  We'd love to have you.

This is Day 22 of AEDM.  Again, Bleubeard and I welcome you to join us.  I'll be leaving as this goes live, because I need to buy groceries for this Thanksgiving weekend.  I'll be by to visit as soon as I return, put my groceries away, and grab a bite to eat.

The restaurant does look rather inviting, too bad it didn't turn out that good. The fabrics will surely come in handy for all your projects.

It looks as though you had the best of days too - the bargains at JoAnn's made up for your higher price lunch which does look rather yummy! I love the fabrics you have bought and look forward to see how you use them!
Went to Docs this morning - want to be fit for next weekend's crop - have medication now and already feeling much better - thanks for your kind wishes! Hugs, Chrisx

oh what a fun time -food AND supplies in one trip! Buffets are not my thing -but mostly because I can't eat a lot at one time and they do charge more for a buffet(another reason I'm not into cruises-along with seasickness) Your food looks very good though. And those fabrics-love them!! It's been quite a long time since I went to our local JoAnne's store...
Happy T day , and a wonderful thanksgiving to you and yours!

Wow! That's a more expensive buffet than what I'm used to, but I'd go anyway. It's very appealing from your take on it :) I like the plants, of course, and the food looks great. Happy T Tuesday

The menu sounded really nice Elizabeth, such a shame it was a bit bland and disappointing.
I can't wait to see what you do with your new fabrics - they are lovely. I'm a bird person so I of course loved those ones more, especially the one with owl.
Happy T day to you........ Gill xx

It is unusual to read that your meal wasn't so good, I am always happy to see the delicious meals you enjoy on your restaurant visits. Our restaurants and cafes tend to be quite expensive and the lunch time special menus are quite limited, my vegetarian friend does not eat out often due to lack of choice, she would be thrilled to visit your eateries.
Loved the materials and they were such a bargain, I'm sure they will become gorgeous finished projects.
Happy T Day Bleubeard, Elizabeth and of course Squiggles.

Great fabric. You really lucked out finding them and getting that great deal. I really like them and can't wait to see what you use them for. Too bad lunch wasn't the best and was a bit pricey, but it is still always interesting to try a new place because you never know ow it will be. Sometimes you get a good find. (And sometimes not.) Happy T day! hugs-Erik

I agree it looked a really nice restaurant. Shame it was so expensive. I looked at the menu and if you werent a vegetarian, there would have been loads of scrummy things to eat. As most Indian restaurants in the UK are Pakistanis, I know all the dishes.
But your trip was not wasted as you did more shopping. Those bits of fabric are really nice! What a bargain! That alone was worth driving to the other side of town!
When I tried to link up, Mr Linky disappeared completely and it have a funny 5 minutes. As I didn't know if I had linked up, I did it again after I reloaded and the screen went back to normal. (Hence the remark).
Happy T-Day,
Lisca

Lunch and shopping for art supplies. Doesn't get much better than that. And 40 miles west of Boston, your lunch was priced quite reasonable. (-;

I like the fabrics that you got on sale. What a bargain. I'm not a fan of buffet meals. The price at your place would be about average here though I think. Hummus and naan, just reading the words makes me hungry. I make my own hummus and heat frozen naan. The naan admittedly isn't as good as fresh made but still it is pretty tasty.

The place does look very nice. Most places are getting too pricey to eat out in anymore. :( You definitely made a haul at the fabric store. I will be heading there soon to get some more yarn and other odds and ends. Have a Great Thanksgiving and HAPPY T DAY!!!!!!

Great fabric! skipping past the food as my tummy is still a bit weird today.

Love the patio of the restaurant, but I'd p0ass on paying that much for so few vegetarian choices. Now the haul looks much more fun--LOL! ;)

I rarely eat out :) At least when I am home and not travelling.

So many paters and stuff to play with. COOL!

Glad you like what I am creating. I love to read your comments :)

The price seems about the norm for where I live (Canada-Niagara Region) so that doesn't bother me. The food looks good and the place looks clean so that's great. I love the fabrics. The deer and the Dance macabre fabric caught my eye. I can't sew worth beans but it will be neat to see what you do
