Bleubeard and Elizabeth head to AJJ

My friend Susi is hosting Art Journal Journey this month where she has a lot of things we can't use (we aren't allowed to use faces, leaves, or wings) when creating collages in our journals or altered books.

So today Bleubeard and I are represented in abstract.

Even after all these years, Bleubeard is just learning to write his name.   So printing is best for him.

He was quite upset that I forgot his whiskers, but I'm sure he won't need them on this page.   His ears will be enough to alert him if trouble is near.  I carried the red I used on his tail

to Elizabeth's head.   For once Elizabeth, instead of Bleubeard, gets the crown.

I love Elizabeth's body, even though it's a true caricature.

Elizabeth's legs are really not representative of her, because she prefers wearing loose fitting dresses rather than blouses and pants.  The problem was, I didn't have scraps large enough in that color scheme to create a skirt.

Here is one more look at my take on Bleubeard and Elizabeth visiting Art Journal Journey.  The substrate is my Coll-AH-ge Two altered book.  The background of both pages is deli paper I painted.  I didn't have enough to cover the entire spread because each side's paper was left over from a prior project.  All collage elements were cut from left over bits and pieces of scrapbook paper I'd been given.  To that I added the words and connecting points using a black Sharpie pen.

Please meet Bleubeard and me at Art Journal Journey where we'll be checking out the other entries from this month's really unique collage challenge.

This is Day 9 of AEDM.  Although I may not say it often enough, I (and Bleubeard, of course) greatly appreciate your continued support of my art.  It means everything to me.

Awesome journal pages Elizabeth. They are very clever! I think you made some wonderful "characters" using your shapes. Maybe you don't wear slacks, but I also love how you represented each of you. :) Hugs-Erika

Fun collage, you must have a lot of imagination to do all these things Elizabeth!

You won't be surprised that I totally love this.
Bleubeard has made a great job of his side and it's good that he can now print his name, saves getting his paw all inky.
I love your crown and pink checked pants worn just for this occasion. Your stripy eyes are fun too.
It's a superb abstract.

I think Bleubeard will be happy with this journal spread. It looks fantastic, love how you used the shapes for him and yourself. You deserve the crown on this fantastic piece.
