Craft Barn's latest letter is about mE

Many people call me Dr. E, Queen of Free, so today I'm using that concept when I created the latest Craft Barn challenge.  I'm sure by now you've guessed the letter I'm referring to is E.

The word I chose was eyes!  Sadly, I forgot that this book is too large for my scanner, so here is the majority of it.  Now it's time to break it down.

Let's begin with the left side, where I used paint chips (or color swatches as they are apparently known in Europe), along with some images from a free magazine I get each month.

I cut a paint chip sample I picked up free at a big box home improvement store, then stamped it with pigment ink using my only large letter, which is E.  I then embossed it, but the tone on tone wasn't what I was looking for,

so I switched to Staz-on, which dries in less than a heartbeat, with no chance of embossing the letter.  This and all the remaining stamps are foam and I had never used them before.  Remember, I'm the one who is not much of a stamper.  But I'm really good at finding free images in magazines.

The right side of the spread continues with more magazine images and two more paint chips.

Some might call this the most important side,

mainly because

of the definition and also the section of the eye I found in my American Heritage pocket dictionary.

Here it and my signature E are together.

One more look because I'm also sharing this with

Art Journal Journey and our wonderful host Valerie whose Indian Summer challenge inspired the colors I chose.  I started with yellow, orange, and brown acrylic paint and spread them across both pages using a faux credit card.  Free paint chip/color swatches became the substrate for the letters I stamped using mostly Staz-on black ink.   Free magazine images were cut to show only eyes.

Thanks, too, for joining me for the latest Craft Barn alpha letter, E.

I love all the eyes. They work really well with the word YES in so many ways. Plus so many different looks. You would think just eyes would all look more the same, but they don't. Staz on is a lousy for embossing, but I do like how it dries quickly when you want ink to dry quickly. Hope you have a great day and have something fun on your agenda this weekend. (And not working on your basement. Hugs-Erika

Terrific idea - also love "paint chips"! More fun than "colour swatches" - they could be anything! Thanks for joining in the Craft Barn Alpha Challenge. xx

Great piece and you met two challenges at once. Bravo. I Never seem to get that organized or inspired.

What a very creative page for the letter E! They say eyes are the windows to the soul. Great combination of the two challenges.

You're on a paint chip roll -- and it's working! Very fun -- and fun to be all about "me."

Brilliant art journal spread. When I first saw it I thought it said yes and thought it was ultra-clever because when our Members of Parliament vote they say 'The ayes have it' (pronounced eyes meaning yes). I love reading your thought process and I have to say you are getting very proficient at stamping (we'll have you stamping like a pro by the end of this challenge!)You can heat emboss with Stazon but you have to be very fast and it also depends on how quickly the ink dries on the card.

Love the journal spread and all those wonderful eyes. It does make me wonder what folk could be thinking, when the eyes look as expressive as these one.

The EYES have it!
Sorry E I couldn't help myself ;-)
Great use of the paint chips (I bet if you wiped some ink across the tone on tone E you embossed it would show up a little more. Your color choices certainly DO represent Autumn.
Hope you're having a very nice weekend.
I have been unplugged again and know I missed a lot.

A great double spread on the subject of eyes! I have used colour swatches too... and ahem.. have also taken home samples of wallpaper to cut down to 12x12 scrapbook pages. So you see you're not alone... crafters are nothing if not resourceful!

Brilliant! What an intense page. I must confess I'm a little unsettled by all of those eyes!

Those eyes are so expressive. A great collection on the pages and a very good choice for the letter E.

Your E for eyes is great fun. I really like it...I hope you now take the time to re read my entry for E and now understand that my E was for explore...not for Rhodes as you messaged me. The dictionary challenge does not have to be an object, it can be anything, including verbs.....which was my choice and creation. My T was for tinntinabulation and featured bells which obviously don't begin with T...lolol!! I hope that clears things up. Crafty hugs xx

Hi again Elizabeth, I have responded to you comment on my blog but you are unlikely to see it so I have added it here. I am sorry that I cannot put this in am email, you have a non response blogger status and no active email address so you are free to delete this when you have read it...

Hi again Elizabeth, I did try to email you a response but sadly you have a no response blogger reply status which means that you would not have got it. Hence my visit to your blog. I will also add this reply to your blog as you are unlikely to see it here. The only reason I deleted your comment is that I though it very curt and unfriendly and clearly you had not read my post for how E was for explore. I will now however share your comment here. You wrote these 9 words;
"not sure what Rhodes has to do with E" I do like to keep blogging kind and friendly, as this crafting world usually is. I felt is was inappropriate as you had clearly not read my post which explained how E was for Explore and we did indeed have a wonderful holiday exploring. We all have the choice to remove inappropriate comments.
Thanks for coming back and realizing how my E was for Explore not Rhodes!
