Autumn and Art: an annual art event

My friend Sally (seen in the photo above with her red walker) and I went to the annual Autumn and Art event we like to visit every year.

This high end juried art show is always on my list of autumn events to attend.  According to the catalog
We are delighted to welcome 99 artists from 23 states, including 30 from Kansas.  Exhibiting artists were chosen by a panel of expert jurors.
It's not like I can afford anything,

but it's fun to look around and see what is new and what is back again.

I've never seen this booth before.

I thought some of his art was quite good.

I know I should appreciate this type of art, but it's so boring to me.

Now this intrigued me.

It's not like I would have a wall on which to display these beauties,

or even a place large enough to display one.  But at least I could admire.
By this time, Sally was so far ahead of me, I couldn't even see her.

I had to quickly take a few shots and try to catch up with her.

I just had to find a jewelry booth, but this year, they were few and far between.

I found her looking at masks, another fun thing she collects.

I made the mistake of asking the gentleman how much the mask she was interested in cost (which of course, I failed to photograph), but it was about the size of the plate on the top shelf on the right.  The cost was $945.00 (USD).  Did I not mention this was a high end art fair?  Once he thought he had a sale, it was hard to leave.

I wanted to stop at this place, but Sally was not in the mood.
This is the kind of art I can make, and I wanted to at least talk to the artist and get some information, or maybe a business card.

Thank goodness, even though she didn't stay long at this jewelry exhibit,

at least I had the chance to take one final photo of this wire art before we quickly moved on.  Maybe you can see the small Wichita Skyline to the right of the woman in yellow is $50.00 (USD).  Each of the athletes shown in the right of my photo was $20.00 (USD).

I took over 600 photos, many of them on the fly.  Some were good, other had so many people in them, you couldn't see the items being sold.  I'll share more later in the week, because right now, I have to prepare my T post.  Thanks for taking time to visit today.  I greatly appreciate it.

I always enjoy your trip to this art fair - surely you should agree to each go at your own pace and meet up later, that way you can both look at what you want to! I liked the booth of the "son of a slovenian" (I think it says son, it's cut off in your photo) he had some nice pieces. thanks for sharing.

This looks like a fun place to visit, with lots of very art - pity that the prices are always so high. Same here at similar events, but it's still fun to look around. Hope you managed to catch Sally in the end....Have a great day, hugs, Valerie

I love this art fair - even though it is expensive you get ideas to use in your art! We visit a couple of galleries occasionally - can't take photos but just seeing how artists use materials inspires! I have caught up for now but we are off on a long journey across to the the east of England on Wednesday! Hugs, Chrisx

How fun. I haven't been to crafts fair in several years. Sometimes the crafts aren't all that " fabulous". I want to say that without being snobby, but yours looks like it had some great artsy items and really creative pieces. That's a good craft fair, something for every taste. And cool to see what's in. Maybe I need to go to another fair sooner ratehr than later and have another look. Happy Columbus Day. Hugs-Erika

You can always pick up ideas at craft fairs. I also liked the metal and stone works of art. The wire art is very pretty too but also very expensive!

Wow! I would love to go visit this place. In the Autumn every year I go to the Affordable Art Fair in Battersea, London. All art costs between £50 and £5000 ($62-$6193 approx.) - so some of it is affordable! It is an indoor event. This show you visit looks fab, I like the look of those wire things.

I always enjoy art fairs, when I can find them. They are always way out of my price range, but it is fun to look and get inspiration.
Thanks for taking us along with you and Sally.

Oh that was fun, Elizabeth, I enjoyed peering into these tents, each one was worth a look. I liked the Slovenian one and the one with wire and stones. 600 photos! - gulp. I look forward to seeing some more.

Looks like you had great weather for the annual art fair.
Fun seeing some of the wares in your nice photos.
That is exactly the kind of place I need to stay away from...too much temptation. Although the prices sound like they would be a good deterrent from any shopping ;-)

Art fairs are always interesting. There's always something to learn...and perhaps something you can't resist taking home.

Oh my. I think I could have spent hours looking around those exhibitions of art. I might of needed a seat for the prices, but as you say its good to pick up ideas. Great photos of your visit, and I look forward to seeing more.

I love a good art fair and this looks like it was a very good one indeed. And those blue skies -- boy, that makes all the difference! Great variety -- it must have been lots of fun.
