T Stands For Tea Time

Today I'm joining Moo Mania and More whose theme this fortnight is Black and White, as well as hoping to get in just under the wire at Art Journal Journey with their August Time theme.  Of course, as your host of T Stands For Tuesday, we can't forget that any drink related post is acceptable.

It's tea time today.   I've even chosen a white cup and saucer to sit on a white place mat.  I apologize for the poor lighting, but it's really early here.

My dear friend Patty who shares a drink with us each week generously sent me some TAP, which is transfer artist paper.  I have no color ink in my printer at the moment, so I was hoping to create some TAP transfer using black ink.  I use PhotoShop (PS) exclusively, but I can't figure out how to print more than one image at a time.  My friend Halle, another T Tuesday participant, walked me through the print process known as automate which leads to picture package.  I'm sure anyone who works with PS is aware of this method of printing.  The problem is, although you can create several images on a page, they are all the same image.

So I got the brilliant idea to print a few images on plain copier paper, then attach them to another page, which I would scan.  Then I could print those images and use a full sheet of TAP without wasting very much of the product.

However, when I printed the first image, it was far too dark.  That's when I decided to turn this into a black and white Moo Mania entry.

The cat sitting in a tea cup was too dark to color, so I grabbed one of my handmade eraser stamps I made using a paring knife (since I don't have the proper cutting tools).  The diamond became the frame and the unifying factor between the two pages.

I outlined the white tag with black ink and added a white hole reinforcement.  I then added black and silver ribbon to complete the tag.  I attached it using a few pop dots.

I found information on the internet that explained there were eight varieties of tea.

In case you can't read it, here it is in its entirety:
Tea is one of the world's most popular beverages, second only to water.

There are eight distinct varieties of tea:
white, green, yellow, black, oolong, pu'erh, blends, and tisane.

At this point, the page looked really bare, so I grabbed the cup mask I made two years ago from a plastic lid.  Instead of using inks or mists around it, I simply drew around it.  Gosh, I can't draw even when I have something to trace around.

I added the stenciled words and hoped it would be enough to qualify as an Art Journal Journey entry.  That is, if I'm in time!

Now it's your turn to share a drink related post.  It can be anything from art in an altered book, journal, sketchbook, or scrapbook page.   Your art can be digital, hybrid, or traditional.  Perhaps you have a drink related postcard to share.  Maybe you prefer the more traditional drink you share at home or while you were out and about.  Possibly you shopped and found a great place that sells cups, teapots, or grinds or sells their own coffee beans.  Maybe you found a book, movie, or painting that represented a drink.  Perhaps you took photos of your favorite tea or drink spot. Whatever your choice, as long as you can relate it to a drink (any drink, even buttermilk) please link below and Bleubeard, the T gang, and I will be by to visit.  Squiggles is still clinging to me, so he'll be by in absentia.

Oh, what a cute tag and page you have made! That kitty in a cup is just adorable. And, of course, I love the tea theme.

When I took the Tea Source class back in Feb., I had the chance to taste yellow tea and pu'erh. I thought that yellow tea tasted very similar to green tea. Pu'erh, because it is fermented, tasted to me like tea mixed with yogurt. Since I love yogurt, I enjoyed pu'erh.

Happy teatime!

Oh I do like your idea of making a master sheet and will have to try that myself. I have gotten pretty good at running the TAP through my printer again and again until it kind of fills it up. My PS skills are pretty much nonexistent.
Your tag turned out great along with your diamond stamp!
Hope you have fun with the TAP.
Your drawn tea cup anchors the page nicely and the tea info is interesting too.
Funny enough my T post also shares something for the Moo challenge.
Happy T Day E oxo

I have never heard of the pu'erh on your list. I will have to look it up. I always enjoy learning something new. I like your pages a lot, you know by now that I enjoy black and white art work. The cat stamp is a cutie.

I have never heard of pu'erh or yellow tea--I'll have to do some research to see what they are all about.

Your spread is tied together perfectly with the diamond border. We don't have colored ink for the computer, so I like the dark, bold look. I usually print lighter (when I print images at all) and color them myself.

Hope you have a wonderful T Day! Hi to Bleubeard and Squiggles!

I'm up and ready to get to the dentist a little early, so I thought I'd drop by for a spot of coffee, since I know we are both coffee drinkers...*grin*

The "throw away" part of the stickers is when the whole sheet has an adhesive backing, then they cut the stickers, but not the very back paper. You can peal that off and use it as a stencil.....the stencil part being where the sticker was.......clear as mud yet??

I do like your journal pages this week. I'm a partial to black and white, even though I usually use lots of color. B&W is always so clean looking.

I have PS, but tend to use Microsoft Digital Image, a program I have had for years, but just started using last year. I like it for blogging because I can do a collage and use more than one image at a time. I haven't play around with PS enough to figure out how to do more than one image. Guess I need to work on that since I paid so much for the program. I usually just use it for editing good quality prints.

So now I'm off to get at least one or two more visits in before heading down the road...Happy T-day

I think the b/w is perfect for this. I haven't even heard of pu'erh, so I'll be exploring that. Thanks! :)

Beautiful tag dear E, and the diamond stamp is perfect to bring the pages together! I've always wondered what 'tisane' is, so now I need to look it up. That is the beverage of choice for Hercule Poirot, the Belgian mystery detective! I confess, I love those murder mysteries- which I watch on Netflix. I had to smile about you getting the technology lessons...I can't figure out how to get a photo off my phone onto my blog. There is no photo card in my phone, so I emailed it to myself, but can't figure out how to get it to my blog! sheesh. you may never get to see the rooster tea pot, unless I draw it... happy T day dear friend! ♥

I really like your page Elizabeth and I think the tea cup you stencilled looks hand-drawn in a sketchy form, so I also like that very much too. You really are terrible for putting yourself down. You need to stop! :) Your white china cup is gorgeous. I bet tea tastes fabulous from it.
I dislike that I have no post again this week. I have been out and about, to a nice new (to me) garden centre cafe too, but I keep forgetting to take any pictures! *sigh* Maybe next week will be better. Happy T Day :D

Love your Tea themed pages. I am sorry to be far too busy this week, and probably a few weeks more, but hope to return to the party when I got used to being a student again. My head is boiling at the moment with all new impressions and new tools to figure out! Happy T Day!

Can't go wrong with cats--LOL! I didn't know of yellow tea or pu'erh. I know I have heard of the tisane--but only when you mentioned it did it ring a bell. I may have to do some googling--LOL!
Happy T-Day!! :)

Cats, cuppa and arty creations... What more could you want.
I prefer black tea but I think I might have to sample all of them on your list.
Happy T-day to you :D

The cat in a tea cup looks cute. I remember reading about the different types of tea last year when we visited a tea plantation.Thank you for your comment on my post Elizabeth. I hope I can purge and reduce all the unwanted stuff here while packing.
