Let's head to the zoo

Tuesday I took you to the zoo.  In case you missed it, you can see it here.

Here is where we left off.

Another look at the map
and Sally decided she wasn't in the mood for walking, preferring instead to ride the tram.

The truth is, Sally put her car in forward gear last Monday, and rammed into her garage door.  Since the garage was filled to the brim with things she hadn't dealt with in years, and boxes of goodies that needed to go to the thrift store, I volunteered to help her on Tuesday morning, because the garage replacement people were coming the next day.

Sally isn't in the best shape, and I knew she would never get everything finished if I didn't help her.  So, I volunteered to help and we got as much out of the garage as we could.  At least as much as the garage people told her absolutely had to be moved, and before the rain came down in buckets and buckets.  Consequently, Sally was in no condition to walk around the park that night.

Pictures from the tram were hard for me to get, because I have to focus each photo.  Unlike in a car, the tram wasn't on a straight course, but wove in and out of the area.  It occasionally went fast, and I either missed shots, or got shots I couldn't use.  Also, at times, it went slowly, then would lurch forward just as I was about to take a photo.  For that, I apologize.

I'll now let you peruse these photos at your own pace.  I'll only chime in when I think something needs explaining.

This shows how the zoo will look when the renovations are complete in 2016.  The master plan includes the new elephant area.

Don't be fooled.  This is another zoo statue.

I think this is a good spot to quit for this post before both my computer and yours blows up.

I was quite disappointed with the tram because we saw a lot of flora (and probably a bit of fungi), but no fauna.  So far I've seen lots of fences, but no animals!  Look back through these photos and I'm sure you'll agree it looks more like a botanical garden than a zoo.

Of course, I appreciate your wonderful comments and the fact that you are willing to visit.  I'll be back tomorrow with more zoo photos from the first night we visited.  And some of the photos will even be more legible, at least I hope they will!

I did quite enjoy your tram ride, but yes, I was looking out for animals! Maybe they were sleeping off their afternoon tea!! I did get a fright when I saw the Kimodo Dragon because i thought you had got off the tram for a closer look at a real animal!! It does look like an interesting place though - look forward to seeing more! Chrisx

So often in zoos the animals hide from the visitors... good idea to have a tram taking you round though - can you get on and off during the ride or does it just keep going?

Wow, I did think that Komodo Dragon was real at first, lol. Great statue!
I agree that it does look more like a botanical gardens than a zoo. Perhaps the animals were staying sheltered in-case that rain started again. Don't blame them ;)
I hope Sally is ok after her wee accident. {{Hugs}}

It looks as if you had a lovely day out at the zoo but what an absence of animals lol! We have a very good zoo very near where we live and before my surgery my hubby took me to wow the tigers (my favourite!). Thank you for your visit and it's lovely to see you back in blogland again. Glad you like what's on my desk, and yes, feeling a lot better now - until a weeks't ime when it all starts again... At least I'm half way through now.

Happy belated WOYWW,

Oh, poor Sally! I wasn't aware she had a garage mishap and that was why you were helping her clean out! I thought it was me....because I didn't see any animals in your photos. Reminds me of a funny story when DH & I went to a zoo down south--paid--went in and 80% of the exhibits were closed due to renovations!!

You're a good friend to help with the garage hoe-out! What are those lovely pink, fluffy flowers in the zoo garden entry? Very impressive.
