Journal 52, Week 34: Keys

Chelle, our wonderful host at Journal 52 gave us Keys as the prompt for Week 34.  Although she has it marked as Week 35, I either can't count, or I missed a week.

I had NO idea how many key rubber stamps I owned until I looked for them.

Here is my take on Keys.  As you can see, I started with the back of the used file folder I painted last week.  Of course, I had also painted this side with the same two colors after I accidentally got some of the paint on this side.

I ran the file folder through my printer, even though it had several layers of paper attached to the other side.

I had no idea I had so many key stamps.  For the most part, these were all brand new, never having been used before.  In fact, they are "Stampin' Up" stamps from 1999 and the very first set of stamps I got.  I got them as part of a hostess prize when I had my one and only party.  I had never cut them and adhered them to the wood, either, so it was really obvious I'd never used them.  But all that changed with this week's challenge.  I realize I'm still not much of a stamper, but I am starting to appreciate the ones I have now and am trying more and more to use the ones I own.

This one was part of a grab bag of stamps I got when my friend Kathy and I went to Mrs. O'Leary's.  I picked up four grab bags and this was one of the stamps.

This stamp was sent to me by a wonderful internet friend and I have used it off and on for many years whenever I needed a key.

I have used this stamp many times.  It's the only one from the above Stampin' Up set I've used.  In fact, I made a mold from this stamp and use it on occasion to make polymer clay locks.

This represents the week, or at least the week I think it's supposed to be!

I got a bit carried away with the color on this sentiment.   I actually meant to write "Which key will fit this lock?," but of course, my mind was ahead of my fingers and I didn't realize I wrote it wrong until after it was scanned and the page had been placed in the 3 ring binder I keep them in. I decided it was done, and I wouldn't try to rework it.

One final look at this finished entry and I've called this one complete.

Materials I used include a used file folder that had been painted with acrylic paints, seven rubber stamps (6 from a Stampin' Up set and 1 from a grab bag), computer generated text, purple pigment ink, red pigment ink, and a red felt pen.

Great page, you really have a nice set of key stamps - I have several, too, but not quite as many! Stamps are very useful in art journaling. At the beginning of the month when a new challenge starts I sort out all the stamps I think I might need and put them in an extra box, and it works quite well.
Have a lovely day, just came back from a lovely walk here! Hugs, Valerie

That certainly is a very fine key stamp collection.
Clever (and brave) you to run your file folder through the printer.
This piece turned out great with your fab color choices and special touches E.

What a great lot of key stamps. I am weaning down my stamps and giving some to friends. I like textures and patterns and letters mostly. I bet you have a pretty big collection though. xox

I love this - had a bit of a thing about keys and locks for a while so have quite a few stamps myself! I have only just discovered Stamping up stamps - they seem to have a good range! Chrisx
