Another visit to Argentina

This is another scheduled post, but I should be around to visit you soon.

Some of you who are long time visitors to my blog saw last month when I showed my South America pages and explained why I have spent so much time in South America in my 7 Continents altered book.  And right now I'm on my first stop, which is Argentina.  It's simple.  I have a ton (and I mean a TON) of images, maps, transparencies, encyclopedia entries, and ephemera I can use to create altered book pages for Europe, Asia, North America, and even Antarctica.  But I have practically nothing for Africa, Australia, and South America.  I guess that's why I'm spending so much time in South America, right now.  It's a genuine challenge finding the right images and ephemera.

And to prove this is just the first stop, there are twelve sovereign states in South America: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Uruguay, and Venezuela.  That doesn't include two non-sovereign areas: French Guiana, an overseas department of France, and the Falkland Islands, a British Overseas Territory (though disputed by Argentina). In addition to this, the ABC islands of the Netherlands may also be considered part of South America.  So we'll be in South America as long as I can find relevant information in geography books, encyclopedias, dictionaries, and modern travel magazines. And no, I don't print images from the internet because I have a better use for my ink.

Today we are traveling to Mendoza, where wine and wineries take center stage.

and the wine images were a freebie I got at my home improvement store years ago that took the place of, and showed examples of, wallpaper borders.

At one time, I had two different images of this famous winery, but over time, I lost one of the images.

If you are as geographically challenged as I, Mendoza is located in the northern central part of Argentina, east of the Andes, north of Buenos Aires and east of Santigo, Chile, in a region of foothills and high plains.  This area is known for its grapes, as well as high altitude wineries.
