ICADs for July 4 through July10

Some of you saw this on Independence Day.  I sewed ribbon and rick rack to the IC after I added the Liberty Bell, which, as many of you who live in the US know, is a sticker left over from a book of the very first "Forever" stamp issued in the US.

This is for all those cats out there that climb trees.  In all fairness, I found the man in the house with the spring already attached to a piece of weather stripping.  I simply removed the protective sheet on the back of the weather stripping and added it to the tree.  The cat is a sticker.  I stamped the tree and sewed the background to a book page and called it good.  I think it's my favorite ICAD to date.

I made this stamp using a paring knife on a rubber eraser.  I really MUST invest in some cutting tools.   I had to scribble around the hearts because I don't stamp well and I don't carve well.  But I DO love Bleubeard!

I was testing colors to see how they would overlap each other, when I thought I would use the IC I had colored them on.  I call it color theory, even though it's a bit of a play on those words.

Originally, I was going to overlap these birds using a mask, but I somehow got off course with the second one.  I knew I couldn't overlap the third one, or it would look wrong.  I was so discouraged, I didn't even try to think of a name for it.

I found this lemon stamp and decided to get out my embossing powder (EP).  I used Versamark on the stamp and stamped it rather unsuccessfully, I thought.  I originally masked off the leaf, then added the EP to the lemon.  Next, I stamped the leaf and masked the lemon.  The lemon was already heat set, so all I had to do was add green to the leaf and set it.  Seems I need a bit of help in the embossing category, too!

Ah!  My kind of collage.  A single staple held these pieces to the IC.

I have some favorable ICs this week and some I wish I'd never made.  However, these are not works of art, but a way for us to learn what works and what doesn't.  I hope you found one at least that you enjoyed.

Once again, I'm sure most of my regular readers and followers know by now, but I'll reiterate that I'm not using prompts from Daisy Yellow this year.  Since there's no way to link these ICADs, I'm left out in the cold due to the fact I'm strictly a blogger and not on any other social media site. Instead of the prompts, I'm using  staples, stamps, and sprays (paints, mists, etc), or sewing on scraps.  No glue is allowed on these ICADs.

I can't say this enough.  Thank you, thank you, thank you for your kind words and visits.

I continue to be impressed by your ability to make these for each day. And they differ so much from each other!

The rick rack brought fond memories of dresses Mother made for me when I was little. So sweet :)

Well I found MORE than one that I enjoyed - I found seven, though my favourite is the liberty bell. I am curious about the Weather Stripping; what is it Elizabeth? I like Chris' idea for naming the bird card.
Many thanks for your lovely comments always, on my and Wee Man's blog posts.
Wishing you a lovely weekend {{Hugs}}
