WOYWW #311: The one where she answers questions

I'm joining Julia at Stamping Ground for week 311 of What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday.  I realize this week's post is MUCH longer than Julia would like, but it's mostly photos, which can be scrolled through quickly.

Last week there were more than a few questions and comments about the dresses hanging on my wall.

These were made once a month during 2010, although I made two each in February,

March, and April, as part of a collaboration called Dress Up 2010.

Every participant was provided a pattern from which to create our dresses.  As a mixed media artist, I created them so they were interactive and could be viewed from both sides.

It's obvious I didn't always use the pattern provided us, and usually used media other than paper.  I often used fabric and other media to create each dress.  I'm not sure which was harder, making the dresses or those silly hangers I hung each dress on.

Some commented on my storage.  I've always said if you have no floor space, go up, and up I went.

The only thing I hate when I take an overall view of my room is the fact that I can't get these four drawers to close properly.  For the longest time, three wouldn't close at all.  Then I removed them and placed them in different slots.  Now at least, only one won't close all the way.

WOYWWendy had to jump onto my sewing machine, because I purchased a single needle.  It came in a multi-pack with others that I have no need for, but this will give me time to find a Singer center where I can buy the ones I need, since the place near my house is now out of business.

Wendy gets around.  The photo hog hates to be left out of any photo.

Here she is, sharing the one and ONLY rocking horse you'll see on my desk this week.  I also bought some summery (Independence Day) candles because I'm planning a big celebration that weekend.

Now she's jumped to the container I'm trying to clean out.  Wish she'd stand still!  But now I must get off, before Julia kicks me out of the club for hogging your time.

If coming from Julia's please leave your number so I can find you easily.  I was able to locate and visit everyone who visited me, as well as a few extras last week.

Well I have no number yet (either!) but am visiting whilst waiting for Julia to wake up (grin, as you would say!) Nice to see Wendy again, feel she's been missing out lately. Have a great day. Helen

Thanks for the close ups of the dresses and the hangers. I enjoyed going through your post, not that long, and read every single word.
Love that orange dress that's sort of 1920's.
Great to see your storage up close, it must be the nosiness in me.

I love those dresses too Elizabeth. I make dolls too, so I loved your Art Doll by your machine. Yes going up was the solution for me too. I have a tiny back bedroom, but it's fine! Big enough for my needs.
Thanks for going in my Giveaway.

Nice to see Wendy up to her old photobomb tricks. Shame about your sewing machine shop,I now pick up single needle packets wherever I see them for much the same reason!

Thanks for the info about the dresses, I've often wondered about them too.
We have a set of drawers thatt don't close properly too. I fins it's a common thing with cheaper, DIY drawer sets. Shoddy workmanship.
I can't believe I almost forgot to add my T post link yesterday. So thanks for the reminder.
Have a good day Elizabeth {{Hugs}}

Wondering where you saw a photo of me folding pop up cubes...? But anyway, I can only echo the love of the dresses close up. Sounds like a fab project and I agree - the hangers make it amazing.
Happy pre-anniversary WOYWW!

Wow! What a space you have! And what beautiful dresses! I will tell you about floor space: If you have it there is something on it and then you don't have it! LOL I have stuff everywhere, even laying on the floor.
Have a wonderful week! #50 How did I get such a nice round number this week? :)

I LOVE your WOYWW Wendy - what a great idea! She does seem to get around. . .Your workspace looks clean and fun and well used! I also have a drawer that doesn't really want to close, but its probably because it is overflowing with heavy paints! I also go up, and up! Thanks for sharing! Lindart #54

I loved the close up of all those dresses. How fun it must have been to make all those. I did wonder about those wee hangers, they are just as neat as the dresses! I enjoyed the visit round your room and the drawers that won't close (what's up with that? I have a couple that are persnickety). Judy #60

I really enjoyed my mooch through all your goodies today. Sadly, for some reason, I do not seem to have an ATC from you. I must have missed them on the table which is a real shame. Hopefully, there should be one from me in your envelope. Have a good week. xx Maggie #62

So good to see Wendy out and about lol. Your craft space is wonderful. I get a little obsessive about drawers also... unless I distract myself with something crafty. I've always said I'm a closet perfectionist... my closet is always in good order lol. Happy WOYWW! #53

Thanks for sharing all the fun photos. Lovely projects. And I love the funky hangers. A great way to display them. You've a nice space to work in also. Hoping the storms are over and it warms up. I don't do well when the sun don't shine. Enjoy

Great space and I have to agree with you about the drawers in a dresser I have a couple old ones that can drive me nuts sometimes when they want to over close and get jammed shut. At least your's is kind enough to allow you access
