Friday Smiles 105

I'm joining Annie at A Stitch in Time for Friday Smiles with something I found in a magazine that brought a smile to my face.

I hope this isn't too US specific.  I remember the first time I was in a Neiman-Marcus.  I was 19 and in Dallas, TX (Texas is a state in the US).  I was so taken by the fact that, even though it was a blistering hot day, there was a doorman fully dressed in finery who opened the door for me.  He didn't care that I was really there out of curiosity and to take in the atmosphere.  He was there to open the door and make sure he ushered me in so I could start my great Neiman-Marcus experience.

BTW, I did buy a set of note cards and envelopes.  They cost a lot more than they would have at WalMart, but I assure you, the quality and the packaging were far better than anything WalMart would EVER offer!

Now it's your turn to show something that brings a smile to your face and share it at Annie's where it's always fun to start the weekend with a smile, a funny, or possibly a belly laugh.

That did make me chuckle Elizabeth. It was very like what we used to joke about when pregnant. 'If I go into labour in town get me into Mothercare quick'. At one point they were offering free nappies for life if your waters broke in the store :-)
Thanks for the chuckle.
And in answer to your question....don't think I've lost more weight but to be honest I've not stood on the scales since we moved house :-)
Hugs,
Annie x

so funny! But I haven't been in a WalMart in _years_. Cheaper prices in the store aren't worth the cost to the community.

hehe - that put a smile on my face. Wee Man and I did the same when we wee in London last year - went to Harrods just for the experience, then I bought chocolates to take home - huge shocker to the wallet but I have some lovely ephemera to use one day **grin**
I do hope you're feeling much better now, if not totally well ((hugs))

This did make me laugh, Elizabeth. Here in the UK it would be Harrods I'd want to be dragged to ... like TwinkleToes I've shopped in the Food Hall there ... call me shallow but how I enjoyed carrying my purchases home in a carrier bag with the store logo on it :) Elizabeth xx

I remember when you wouldn't go shopping without hat and gloves. How times have changed.

Hi Eliza, yes I relate with what everyone has said, times have soooo changed, a little stroll and one can dream - David Jones in Australia. I think also respect and manners have been lost. Cheers and enjoy your week Robyn

This made me laugh! I don't think we have any Neiman-Marcus stores in MN, even at MOA(Mall of America) so I pretty sure I haven't been in one. :)
Sounds like a classy place.

I am not familiar with either store as we don´t have them in UK (nor in Spain!), but I still appreciated the joke. I have internet of sorts tonight so I´m doing some quick visiting. Kate xx

I was well impressed with the NM store in San Francisco as they went to the trouble to search and find what I needed IN ANOTHER STORE! How's that for service? Class!

I am presuming that your store is like our Harrods? My Mum and I always took a trip up to London and did Harrods when we were back in the UK on home leave when I was in my teens... I would buy cards and food so that I had the Harrods bag to go home with.... such little pleasures we got back then!! LOL

Saw this on my phone and laughed out loud!! As others have said I guess that Harrods or Harvey Nichols would be our equivalent -one of supermarkets - ASDA -of course was taken over by Walmart Hugs, Chrisx
