WOYWW 293: the one where she's organizing rubber stamps

I've dug my way into my freezing craft room, to meet with Julia at Stamping Ground for my weekly trip into the realm of voyeurism desk snooping.

I'm trying to make sense of all my stamps.  I used to brag that I could put all my stamps in a single drawer, but that's not so anymore.  I'm calling these "stamps with wings."

Long-time deskers will remember I sorted my thread in the first three, and the fourth one is now holding a few mixed media items that relate to sewing.

But I KNOW you really came to see the rocking horse, and not the ones I've shown before that sit on the storage unit above.

Today's rocking horse(s) came from the UK and were a small, albeit very important and appreciated, part of my Christmas gift from Pear Shaped Chris.  Aren't they wonderful?  I'll be showing more of her fabulous gifts over time.  And in case I haven't said it before, thank you, thank you, thank you for your generosity, Chris.

Please join Julia and all the other deskers.  I'll be there, too!  And if you are visiting from Julia's, please leave your number.  I was able to visit everyone (and more) who visited me last week, except one person who is using G +, which I'm not a member of and have no plans of joining.

Love your RH collection and love those tiny little wooden buttons Chris sent to you. I think your "wings" section is perfect - mine is entitled "things that fly" and is anything with wings - even fairies.
Toodle pip for now, love to you and Bleubeard of course.

Ever-expanding drawer syndrome we all seem to have.My goodness there are a lot of stamps out there in Stamp Land! I'm not much of a stamper, but I'm doing more after I got some tips from You Tube.
I found one "Made by" stamp recently which I use as labels on everything!
Have a great rest of the week.

I love that row of silhouette birds, what a great stamp!! Thanks for your visit already. Helen, #5

OH, I do love the new white rocker ornament!!

I think most of us sort our stamps according to our own system. Since I have wood mounted, clear cling, rubber cling and an old Halo system, I have them sorted as to where I can remember WHERE they are. Of course I have hundreds of stamps.....:o....but you must remember that I have been stamping for almost 30 years!!

Have a great week, and thanks for the earlier visit. Now it's time for lights out!!!

Oooh its been an age since I have visited you and your rocking horses (took a really long pc break last year!) and its lovely to see them still in such prominence. I too remember the days when my stamps used to fit in a shoe box and then it became ten shoe boxes so I had to have a reorganise as I could never be bothered to get to the ones in the bottom box! They are now all on a shelf in an old English dresser in my dining room as I have hundreds! Love your three drawers of threads there - I only have a basket full of those! Have a great week - Sunshine Girl #13

Sorting out seems to be in the air recently! We're all doing it :-) I like your Things with Wings drawer, you've got some pretty stamps in there. It's nice to catch a peek of your threads too :-)
Aren't those RH buttons sweet? Wonder where Christ got those from? She's a kind lass!

Those are some huge stamps! No wonder you can't fit all of them in one drawer. They're lovely though, as are the rocking horses. I take you have a soft spot for rocking horses? If I had to choose something like that, it would have to be dragonflies! Have lovely week! zsuzsa @ InkyDinkyDoodle #47

I like the idea of a drawerful of things with wings. I think my favourite is the birds on a wire stamp. Those rocking horse buttons are adorable.

Stamps with wings makes perfect sense to me :) I have my stamps stored on a tall narrow shelf in clear plastic boxes. It works ok for me as I can see inside of them. Happy WOYWW Shel#56

I like your stamps with wings collection. I remember and was really impressed at how you organized your thread collection, too.

The parrot painting in the background caught my eye--have you mentioned it before?

I often try to sort my stamps into themes but invariably run out of space/patience! The only one for sure is Christmas!!
Love those rocking horses, the lace one in particular.
I saw a rocking horse at an antique place as we were sat in traffic. Took a photo through the window then realised I do not have your address!
Darn it!

Rocking horse buttons? Oh my, those are just adorable. I've been looking at special buttons lately for a knitting project but haven't come across any rocking horses. Just too cute.

Those stamps do have a way with multiplying and climbing out of the single drawer! Love the lace-look rocking horse.

I am so glad to see you back in the w=swing after being so poorly. Thank you for showing so many of your lovely rocking horses, but do you have any idea of how many you have now. I am deep into sorting stamps too, not rubber ones in my case but mainly the polymer ones fro Clarity. I have found several duplicate stamp and stencils due to not realising that I already had them So a comprehensive catalogue is on its way. Not a quick task. Hope you have a good week and not too much of the white stuff. Take care of yourself. xx Maggie #27

My stamps now take up 4 large shelves on a bookcase. (Funny how they multiply like dust bunnies.) Absolutely LOVE those 3 rocking horses on top of your drawer unit and the little ones are just darling! Happy WOYWW!

hello E & B
it feels like it's been a month of sundays since i stopped by for a visit, but the holiday season, family visits, travel, do have a way of sucking up all my time.
your organization skills are admirable. i really love the 'crows' stamp. And of course your rocking horses always bring smiles.
Take care Elizabeth. Hope you are well and staying warm!

Very clever sorting method. It makes sense to me although I don't think I would have thought about doing it that way..but it totally makes sense!!!!

I think it is necessary having a sorting system for stamps. Yours are beautiful and so are your rocking horses. Do you know how many you have in the meantime?

Oh I do like your rocking horses. I'm not even going to show anyone how many rubber stamps I have and that's after I sold quite a lot. Well they do pile up over 15 years of stamping. Anita #66

A lot of sorting out and tidying up going on and your sorting your rubber stamps out as well!
Sounds like it's still cold where you live so please take care and stay warm

One tip I picked up recently about clear stamps is to "season" them with Archival inks. Stamp them first with the Archival and do not clean them. The other secret is to have good quality stamps like the Clarity ones. I have destroyed other stamps by treating them as firmly as the Clarity ones. They are just as tough as rubber stamps with the advantage that you can see where you are stamping and thus position exactly. xx Maggie

Love the way you are sorting your stamps Elizabeth! What is the name of that red bird at the front? I'm so glad you like your rocking horses - the white one came from a German stall at the Christmas market in Manchester. I'll have to take some market pics next year! My son hates it as he is in a bakery nearby and hates the crowds of drinkers at the beer stalls!! Hugs, Chrisx

Well it's a new year, and all the posts about organizing are almost making me leave the computer and have a go at it!

The new rockers are very sweet, what a nice Christmas surprise!

(I'm not woywwing this week, just missed the fun for so long, wanted to have a little snoop and say hi!)

I LOVE that stamp with birds on a branch... just beautiful! And myohmy, is that Brussels-lace the rocking horse is made of? I never tried that technique of lace-making (I know people who can... but I turned their 'I will teach you" down when I saw how much patience it takes!) Happy woyww and a hug from Holland, Marit #50

Hello #2!! Loving your rocking horses, they are all so varied! Whoda thunk? Good to see you orgqanising those stamps so llogically - I'm afraid my classification kinda defies description! Hands as little beter today and I haven't dropped anything so far!!. Finished the tags, but gonna stop doing them as I never seem to have the materials to do the techniques and the constant improvisation - although it may be good for me - is becoming a little tedious. Happy WOYWW Cindy
