APC's Week 17: It's for the birds

For Week 17 at Claudine's Art Corner, Claudine challenged us to play with birds.

I was thrilled because I didn't have to stamp anything this week, although I did a bit of stamping on the right side of the left card.  So collage and a bit of ink were all I really needed to make these two cards.

I didn't really have a sentiment for this one, so, after reading the definition, I came up with "For the Birds," which , according to Webster, is slang for ridiculous.  Sort of like my cute little bird I put together using dictionary words and red card stock.  I thought it was a bit plain, so got out a stamp I had just tested, and stamped the image three times on the right side of the playing card.

For this playing card I knew exactly what I wanted to say.  Even the tree I drew looks a bit like fingers on a hand.  I used paint and a Martha Stewart punch to create my birds.  Although I'm not a fan of Martha, I simply love her four punches I own.  I kept the color scheme the same, but when I started to run my red pen around the card, the gesso chipped away.  I also drew three circles in red, then blue pen.

One final look at my birds.  Thanks for making it fun and collage-y this week, Claudine.

And thanks to each of you for taking time to visit.  I'm most grateful.

Hi to you both, thanks for the visit. It wasn't long after I took the shadow photo that we had lots of snow too and there hasn't been much sun since either. Love your birdies, gorgeous. Happy crafting, Angela x 39

Your birdies are much better than mine Elizabeth they are fun and inventive, that is what crafting is all about not stamping well. I adore your two APC's very very much!!! :-) xxx

I love these, they look great! I never saw a bird punch before, will have to look for this one. Great colors and sentiments on them.

We are on a second snow day here, not a good way to start the year, lol. It's freezing but no more snow since the last big one 2 days ago. Should be warming up this weekend though. Hope you are staying warm enough.

You mentioned my DLP journal, you were right it isn't new. I have some journals on my shelf not used, bought when on sale and save for when I need them. YAY!
Take care!

I love the one you made with the dictionary page the best, but both are great cards.

Your bird cards bring the phrase "put a bird on it" to mind.
I like that the bird fascination/trend has not yet cooled after all this time.
I enjoy birds in all forms and fashions.
Your cards turned out great!

I'm late visiting because I always like to make my cards before seeing what everyone else comes up with.

Your dictionary bird is so clever and cute. I like his shape and upturned beak. The punched birds are also nice, and the blue is a nice contrast to the background.
