Craft Barn's 15th Quotes and Lyrics Challenge

I want to thank Helen, because I couldn't access the Craft Barn's latest challenge (which is Mind and/or Ignorance) on my computer.  I got to their link through Helen's blog, and for that I'm extremely grateful.

As soon as I saw the words, I knew the quote I wanted to use.  I began with a concept, a mannequin mask sent to me by Annette, aka Voodoo Vixen, a used file folder, and a few Twinkling H2Os.

After the colors were sufficiently saturated, I began applying them

to the substrate with a brush.  Next, I played the waiting game, where I was forced to allow the inks to dry.

Then it was a bit of a task finding enough letters stickers to create

the "MIND" quote.  I wasn't sure I could scan this piece, but decided to try, since the colors were so dull in my evening craft room.

The quote is originally attributed to Terry Forster, an obese American major league baseball pitcher, who first cited it in response to a comment about his diet.  Others, mainly comedians, have cited it, also.

A couple of detail shots,

and the entire quote: A waist is a terrible thing to MIND.

Thanks to everyone who visited during the previous challenge.  And thanks go to Fiona, who always leaves a nice comment, even though I can't reciprocate.  And, yes, I visited everyone again last time, and plan to again this fortnight.  Just had to get that fun word in somewhere!

Wow I love that quote, and your piece turned out wonderfully! Great background and you've used that mask wonderfully (I know you didn't like the way it worked on your fabric, but I liked it as I though it looked more like my figure - a little lumpy - LOL).

Great fun reading about your lunch day too and good planning on the deserts! :) Funny I would never have considered calling you anything but Elizabeth! My name is not a short form of Cynthia or anything else - my mother wanted to name me something you couldn't shorten - but of course I get Cyn and Cynd all the time.

What a great background with the Twinkling H2O's! I've been thinking about my little pots of glittery goodness sitting nicely in their box and wondered if I shouldn't grab them out once again. I think after seeing this I just may have to! Wonderful job!!!

I love this background and I empathise with the quote - I have trouble minding my waistline as well!

Gorgeous colours in that background, I am impressed that you left them to dry. I'm guilty of mud making (never slinging, lol). I don't have the H2Os but I do have some called Yasutomo. They were a fraction of the price but are hard to work.
I live the dress form you used and the quote is really good. I've never heard that one before. :D
I found the new challenge via your blog. Very frustrating that a week as almost over already. Especially as I never get notification of the new one anyway. I'm not sure I shall carry on much longer. I have enought to think about without trying to remember to check a challenge, lol. I like my emails, ;)
