ICADs, week 2 and honoring Flag Day

For my second week of ICADs, hosted by Tammy at Daisy Yellow,  I stuck with the collage prompt she suggested.  This was fun, although some of my cards are a bit bland in comparison to some I've seen.

I found this in a magazine, then cut the focal image and attached it to the background.  I had a LOT of trouble finding a pen that would show over the dark background.

These images were the small examples from old calendars.  Since the actual calendar pages couldn't be used, the smaller images from the back of the calendars were the perfect size I needed for this IC.  I used a decorative punch to emphasize the sentiment, which was thought up by Bleubeard.

This one was inspired by my internet friend Linda Gibbons, whose love of bunnies is always evident.  One tiny semi-fussy-cut image, also taken from a calendar, was paired with "hand" stamping and a pigment ink background.  These are the same acrylic stamps I used when I lamented the backing won't stick to anything, so I had to position each one using only my hand.  BTW, even double stick tape didn't stick to them, as my internet friend Vickie suggested.

This magazine image caught my eye, and I just had to use it.  I paired it with a hand cut heart, and staples.  No glue was used on this one.

It only took me til the 12th to use my sewing machine.  Again, no glue was used on this one, because the butterfly was purchased as part of a set, and had its own pop dot on the back.  I hope you can tell this one is from June 12, or as we write in the States, 6/12/14.

I seem to have cropped this IC a bit close.  I used magazine images for this one, my least favorite this week (we all have at least one least favorite a week, I'm sure).

While rummaging through my stash, I found this image I saved from a Mardi Gras tip-in swap I participated in many years ago.  I paired it with a piece of pre-cut lavender ribbon and three green blank labels that had lost their "gummy-ness" probably about the same time I printed the image.

If you want to see the first ICADs I made, you may go here.  The rest of Week 1's ICADs are here.  As promised, I will now show my ICADs once a week on Saturday through the end of July.

I hope you're having as much fun with your ICs as I am with mine.  Thanks so much for looking and sharing.

And let's not forget that today is Flag Day in the US.   This national holiday is celebrated on June 14 each year.   That was then,

this is now!  Flag Day celebrates the adoption of the US Flag on this date in 1777.  Images are from Wikipedia.  Enjoy.

Elizabeth, all your ICAD cards are great. Yes I think we all have a "least favourite" card every week - I know I do (mandala!). Some really interesting images you've found - wine cork topiaries? I wasn't sure if Bleubeard would approve of all those other cats but I see he does (probably on paper more than in his yard). My favourite this week is the one made using the mini calendars - maybe because of the stitching. I want to do stitching in my work but can't seem to make room to have the machine out... The Mardi Gras image is a little unsettling, but really cool at the same time! And Happy Flag Day to you - I really like that old image you found!

Cindy :)

Thanks for sharing your ICADs. Love to look at them. I had never heard of the ICAD challenge, but now, thanks to you, I am stretching my creative wings. Still not brave enough to share the results. (I need some of the courage you displayed on your journal.)

always love me some collage! terrific cards...really like the calendar card, and had to grin at the donuts! you are doing well to be keeping up with so many challenges! I decided to limit my undertakings this year, even though I loved the index cards...since I committed to the Documented Life Project I figured I'd better not 'bite off too big of a chunk' of projects. Looking forward to seeing more of your cards!
