Playing with fabric

Today I gathered some of my fabric scraps and started a small quiltlet.

I thought I would be finished by the time I needed to post, but that was not the case.  I still need to add the backing and sew the tabs at the top that will be used as "hangers."  You can see how late in the day it is, based on the sun shining in my craft room.

I started by gathering various scraps of fabric in shades of pink and brown.  The background is some I hand dyed last summer.  I'm a big fan of mottled colors, and have always loved the look I get when I dye my own fabric.

The flowery fabric is some I was gifted with.  It used to be a blouse, but I used most of it in another project.  This is most of what was left.  The plaid was some I disintegrated last year.  Unlike others who have good luck with their disintegration projects staying intact, it only took about a month for this cotton to nearly fall apart after being put to the test.  I thought it was the perfect addition to this piece.

I used variegated thread throughout the project.

I added one piece of ribbon to the mix, along with a strip of fabric that has cows on it.  Although this piece doesn't show the cows very well, they show marginally better on the tabs that still need to be sewn to the quiltlet.

At the end of the day, I thought I would have to put this away and not show it.  But when I came back to it, I realized, all it needed to be finished was to add three buttons.

For Day 10, I recycled four scraps of fabric, including one disintegrated fabric.  I also added three buttons I got at the thrift store several years ago that had languished in my button box for far too long.

I am really impressed with how much you accomplish in a day...and you remember to take photos, too! :)

The quiltlet is lovely, and those buttons remind me of some very old ones I have like that which are made out of leather.

Adorable little quiltlet ♥ I've been so busy outside this week I haven't had time for art... just a bit of crochet in the evenings while watching TV .

I love this quiltlet!! This is my new favorite of yours now. The pink/brown colors are so pretty together for any project I think. Great buttons too! Did you sew this then? I thought you didn't sew or maybe you did it by hand? Either way I LOVE IT!!

Great assemblage fun below too!!!

Have a wonderful day! I am hoping to post later today.
