Journal 52, Week 17: Refresh

This week at Journal 52, Chelle's prompt for us was Refresh.  I had several ideas, but once I started working on the piece, I quickly changed my mind.

What does refresh mean to me?  After spending the past 22 days recycling, reusing, or repurposing everything I touched,

it seemed the perfect time to bring out NEW stuff.

Granted, some of that new stuff was gifted to me, and some I bought on clearance or on sale.

But the best way I knew to refresh my art for this challenge

was to find things I had never used in the past: feathery things, flowery things,

glittery things, new things.

I also made the week number an integral part of the piece, especially when I added the final two glittery pieces from a pack of 12 Heidi Swapp embellishments.  I felt I needed something on the bottom 1/3 of the piece.

Supplies I used for this piece included some very old pigment ink I applied to my substrate, my well used Micron blue ink pen, a used file folder cut in half lengthwise (the substrate), a new red doily, new feathers, new flower, new bow, and new glittery embellishments.  I'm certainly refreshed and ready to get back to recycling.  But it felt good to dip into some new things for a change!

Thanks as always for visiting, since this is the only place you'll see how refreshed I am this week.

Fab feathery mandala, Elizabeth! And still a bit of recycling while you're refreshing your art (file folder). Hugs (Girls are snoozing or they'd send hugs too) ;)
