Journal 52, Week 14: Rain or Shine

I'm back for a second time today.  I hope you weren't too disappointed with my earlier failed experiment.  I'm trying to make up for it by sharing Week 14's Journal 52 entry, which Chelle has designated as "Rain or Shine."

Technically, the substrate, which is a cut file folder, is recycled material, to which I added three colors of my handmade shimmering mists.  Then I took out my gifted mask (sent to me by Voodoo Vixen) and used it to paint over the mists.  I thought yellow was quite appropriate, since it is the color of the sun.  I had to go over it several times to get rid of most of the green tint one gets when one adds blue and yellow together.  Maybe I should have called this "Sunshine on my Shoulder," since I got so much extra yellow on one shoulder.

I used the stencil portion to draw around the umbrella, then added the red stripes to the umbrella cut from vintage sheet music I also colored with my shimmer mists.

I dug through my stickers until I found enough to make up the words "Singin' in the RAIN," which I think of every time I see this umbrella man.

The "14" signifies the 14th challenge.

Today is still Day 6, and for this entry, I used a recycled file folder I cut in half for my substrate, some of my handmade shimmering mists, a gifted mask/stencil, various stickers, and some old, vintage sheet music.

Thanks as always for looking, since I am not a member of Facebook or Flickr, the only two places you can show share your art for this challenge.

LOL! That was the first thing that came to my mind too, but as usual, haven't started yet.

I don't post to FB anymore, just to my blog. It is done for myself anyway.

Thanks for dropping by, I really appreciate it. Love your experiments - even if they don't work, they are still interesting. Love your page, especially the paper umbrella and the singing in the rain. I'll try and drop by during the week, but I can't promise!

What a great page, it refers to one of my all time favorite movies. Enjoyed the previous tutorial, we got to see the process and know what not to do with eye shadow.

I am loving your recycled crafting tips...especially the eyeshadow spray where you add the glue..."count to five" for the measurement - brilliant, I know exactly what you meant!!

Thanks for visiting my desk already

Singin' in the Rain...I love that song, and the movie it came from! A fun piece, and it turned out beautifully! I must admit I would never have thought to try using eye shadow to make spray mists...your experiments are always informative and honest! hmmm, might be able to use eye shadow like pastels though...(fixative required)Thanks so much for stopping by Cottonwood Counterfeit Journal! Not very many people have discovered it yet. I am smiling about what you may think about my character. I hope you haven't figured it out so soon! ;)

That's a fun stencil/mask. Lucky you. :) I can't remember ever singing in the rain myself but I have laughed hysterically after getting completely soaked leaving the grocery store with Little J. We were both laughing like lunatics. Good times...good times.

I love it! Mr. Umbrella Man looks like he is walking out of the mist. Very clever to add the sheet music to the umbrella!
