Journal 52, Week 10: Create for a Cause

Chelle at Journal 52 has challenged us to create art for a cause.  So that's what I did today.

When I think of creating for a cause, I think of my friend Halle of Halle's Hobbies. Each year she creates something that recognizes the Breast Cancer movement.  She's even been known to die a lock of her hair pink, too.

So that's the cause I made art for today.  In the center of the heart

is a pink ribbon representing this very worthy cause.

I urge you to think pink, too.  And since the texture didn't really show up well in this photo,

I took another close up that showed it better.

Don't forget, if you want to join this worthy cause, Journal 52, that is, you must share your art on either Facebook or Flickr, neither of which I'm a member.  But I'm simply THRILLED so many of you visit me here on my blog, where I really love sharing my latest entry with you.

I decided to check to see if the prompt was up, because I have company coming in the morning and they will consume my entire day.  So have a great Sunday and I'll see you soon.

Really like what you have done for this challenge.I'll have to think on what I'm going to do. Now that I have the girls birthday paintings done I can jump back into the Journal52 and LifeBook2014 projects :) Very excited about that.

Great thinking Elizabeth! My sister is a breast cancer survivor and she always shies away from pink because she says she doesn't want to remember it. But most breast cancer patients and especially survivors wear the color with joy and hope.

Have a lovely rest of your weekend!

Well done Elizabeth, and of course one GREAT cause.
Every October I create for this cause (BC), I have family and friends I have watched go through it. Since I do this in October I am thinking of a different cause....not sure yet, there really are so many.
My wk. 9 "The earth, without ART is just EH" I wondered if everybody would get it.

Lovely project, Elizabeth! Your backgrounds does show all the wonderful texture, which is just one of the many things I love about your work.

I saw your comment about the clay cutters. When they are this small, it is always harder to remove the clay. I dip the cutting side into a water puddle before I start cutting which you are right, usually doesn't help much. I used the tip of the blunt tool to gently push it out and then generally use that side as the bottom since it does get nicks.

I kept my project simple since I felt most projects on TT are for beginners. You've probably seen the dragon, turtles, etc I have made inspired by Christi Friesen--those were done with Premo because it is firmer and easier to sculpt with. Anyway, can't wait to see your project!

Thanks for sharing your compassion with breast cancer fighters and survivors. I think more than the financial result that may help them, your cause will also help ease the pain of what they’re going through.
