It isn't Thursday and it isn't silent . . . (Color Swatch Inspiration)

but it IS Journal 52 on Sunday.  I'm early because Krisha, at Krisha's Keepsakes posted that the prompt was up much earlier than I expected.  Since I didn't have a Craft Barn prompt this week, I didn't want to wait till Thursday to show my latest take on this week's prompt provided by Chelle at Journal 52.

When I hear "color swatches" my mind goes to those little paint chip color swatches they give away FREE at big box home improvement stores.  Those who have been around my blog a long time have seen the multitude plethora of paint chip color swatches I have used in everything from altered book pages, to swap items, to the cover of my Summer of Color 2013 book.  And it should be no surprise that I would make a few houses, since they lend themselves so well to these colorful paint chips.

I'm not sure why I wrote that silly sentiment, but since this is supposed to be an exercise in journaling, I'm trying hard to make it that.  Consequently, I wrote the first thing I thought of as I picked up the pen.  No forethought, no thinking it through, just a bit of free writing.  Note also the number 9, which represents the 9th prompt.

To admit how cold it is in my my main floor craft and sewing room would have some of you heading for your nearest heater.   By the time I finished cutting and sewing the roofs to the houses, I was already freezing and my hands were quite numb.  That's why the two final houses I made had stamping and doodles, rather than sewing.

I guess I spent too much time on the first house I made.  Once I got the house prepared for positioning, I noticed the windows were not finished.  So I decided these wonky houses were just what this prompt needed.

I hope you enjoyed my interpretation of this weeks' Journal 52 prompt, color swatches.  Please remember, you must show your interpretation on Facebook or Flickr, neither of which I'm a member.

Great color combos with your cute little houses. So how did the latest winter storm affect you this time. We are home all cozy but it's really nasty outside.

LOL I LOVE the sentiment Elizabeth!

Thanks for the wonderful comments you lift on my blog. Yes, I can do with just a cracker and some peanut butter when there is no power, but a gas stove is REALLY nice to have at those times.
My dog gets fed even before my DH, but then again she can't reach the peanut butter LOL

Your J52 page is great, can't believe you have it finished already. I still have thoughts swirling in my head. Such a great use of those paint swatches.

I love that you stay with your original thought from the prompt, and I love the coloured houses! as a gal who doesn't journal because I feel it contrived, I'm delighted to see that you wrote the first thing that cam into your head, that makes it not silly indeed. If you ask me. And I'm not sure you did. But you know, I have an opinion on everything!!

Those paint chips come in handy. My favorite part tho is the sewing. Maybe because it is something I haven't tried.

Fun, stitch houses on your folder. I've got some old folders to redo, and my sewing machine is ready to go, maybe when I am no longer icing the neck. xox
