Friday Smiles 55: Another snow day

Once again I'm joining Annie at A Stitch in Time as she and others smile their way into the weekend.

This is what 11 inches ( 27.94 centimeters) looks like after a day of snowing and blowing.  It was hard to get a decent photo, because of the screen on my window.

I had to find a higher spot that didn't have a screen, because the winds made the temperature of about 5 degrees F (-15 degree C) dangerously cold, dipping often from -25 to -30 degrees F (-31.67 degrees C to -34.4 degrees C), so it was unhealthy to step outside, even for a few minutes.

Some of you may have read about my heat being off for nearly a day.  Since I have central heat and air, even though the heat is gas, it is controlled by an electric turn on and shut off valve.  You can see the transformer that blew.  It is the black cylinder that sits to the left of the pole.  Thankfully they were able to fix it, even as the snow was drifting and swirling around the workers.  You might even be able to see the mess they made when they came through the back of my neighbor's house.

So why smile today?  Here are a few reasons.  You choose.  Check all that apply:

1.  I'm glad it's not my place.
2.  It's beautiful from a distance.
3.  I'd gladly take it for a day or two because the heat here is unbearable.
4.  It's more fun than rain.
5.  I'm ready to build a snowman.
6.  All of the above.
7.  None of the above.

Bet you're smiling as you decide which choice(s) to pick.  Have a great Friday Smiles and please visit Annie at A Stitch in Time for links to more smiles and possibly even a few laughs.

It's a def number 2 for me Elizabeth. I would be in constant pain with that degree of cold with my arthritis so I like to avoid it at all costs. I've really enjoyed the pics though but really hope you are able to keep warm and cosy....and my friend Bleubeard of course.
Thank you for your lovely comment today. Isn't it wonderful to feel you have friends all over the world?
Hugs,

Argh Elizabeth! for me it's "'none of the above' please. I know it's really hot in the summer, but I can deal with that so much more easily. Cold like that makes me really miserable and unproductive. And really, I don't need to be less productive!! I hope your local government are on the case regarding ploughing and clearing, so at least when the cold eases you can get out safely to top up supplies!

I love pristine snow, especially in my garden as then it looks perfect and as good as the best!
Thanks for your lovely comments, I really enjoyed the show and it was good that it wasn't just commercial.
Just for you I have added a closer photo of the mini quilts so you can see more detail. I think there is inspiration there for any medium.
Have a great weekend....

Yikes!! I'm glad you didn't bother stepping outside...it would have let any residual heat from inside out. Glad it was fixed fairly quickly.

Just popped back to say .. yes I always put fusible (Bondaweb) on my fabrics to hold them in place before I free machine around them.
I was pleased with the finished pic. Today I have been doing a collage stitched onto a deep canvas - I will show and tell on Wednesday. (It keeps me out of mischief!)- Jo

We moved to Texas for the weather and retired to the Texas hill Country for 8 years we had one or two cold days a winter, now we have no rain and freezing for days. NOT as cold as you but I get cabin fever!!!

Definitely 4 and 5 for me. Alex keeps praying for snow so we can go and play in it. Thanks for the smile. Caro x (#6)

My choice would be: None of the above! Thank you very much!
Glad you took the photos through the window instead of slipping outside for them. THAT is just TOO COLD!!

Oh, Elizabeth, that looks soooo cold. I love the look of snow but only through a window ... I drive my DH mad when I say I love looking at snow because he just hates it. He hates being snowed in, ending up with cabin fever after just a day of confinement! So glad that you got your heating repaired - in those temperatures it must have been painful without - and poor Bleubeard must have suffered too. Hope things improve rapidly for you both. Elizabeth xx

Oh Elizabeth. I guess it's 1,2,and 4 for me. I am learning to cope with the mid-summer heat in July and August, but I would struggle with that deep cold. Poor you, with no heating. I bet Bluebeard didn't like it either! We light the gas fire in the evenings, and the cats are curled up in front of it even before we are. Your garden does look lovely though - from a distance! I'm glad they were able to fix the transformer and that you got your heat back. It seems like the 30" was a "misunderstanding", spread as a rumor on social media--we may get a dusting!

Certainly glad you got your heat back.... My energy levels have bottomed out with this cold. I was off for 2 days and did absolutely nothing. Forcing myself to move now that I've gone back to work.

I can only select #uno. :) I'd rather have rain. You could add...it's better than a hurricane?! :) Thanks for the smile and the memory which has grown dim.

WOW, that is a lot of snow and cold for you. Glad you got the heat back on and could warm up again. I stay inside for most of my snow pictures and like you have to go higher to get one without a screen thru it, lol.

Some days it's so cold here that Lucky won't go out for a walk. Poor thing, we are all ready for spring.

The temps have been up/down here and we just got a ton more snow too. The kids had another day off last week due to the temps, seems weird to even send them to school anymore. Feels like we've been on winter vacation for weeks now.

I'm so ready for spring, which I rarely ever say.
Stay warm and safe!

No. 4 Please! Fed up of the rain over here. It is now cold here too so maybe we will get some white stuff but no where near as much as yours!
