Journal 52: Week 3, You make me smile

Today is Thursday, so it must mean Journal 52 day in my world.  Click on the link to learn more about this year long journaling project.  This week's prompt is "you make me smile."  As soon as I saw the prompt I knew exactly who I wanted to spotlight.

Now that I once again have a camera that takes images you can actually see, I can do a few step-out photos.  Here I began with my file folder I've already colored on the other side, the image I intend to use, some cheap crayons I have no idea where they came from, and a couple of pots of Twinkling H2Os.  In an effort to utilize (my 2014 word) some of the items I've not played with for awhile, I thought I would start with a resist technique I'm not sure I've tried before.

While water was activating the Twinks, I drew a few circles on the file folder using crayons that are so hard, bland, and devoid of pigment, no one in their right mind would want to use them for anything other than (hopefully) this project.

What surprised me after I added the Twinks was how much the yellow and green crayons showed up, while the red more or less blended in.  I was especially happy when the two Twink colors blended and produced a lovely lavender.   You can tell I've used all the activated Twinks and there is no color in the middle of the file folder.  That is intentional, because the Twinks are not cheap, and there is no sense wasting them when there will be a picture over the top.

Not sure you can tell where I marked each corner, but here is a close up of a mark I accidentally colored past.  I obviously threw caution to the wind and went past the mark.  The lines that look white in the photo are actually the red crayons.

Here is the guy who always makes me smile.  My dear friend Kathy drew Bleubeard, fussy cut him, and gave him to me one time when she visited.  Before I added his image to the T Stands For Tuesday sign, I took a few scans of him on different backgrounds.  The "3" on the far lower right stands for week 3.

In addition to crayons, Twinks, and Bleubeard's image, I added the sentiment (journal prompt) using a Dymo label maker, another tool I haven't used in a long time.  Thanks for the visit.  Don't forget to visit Journal 52 if you want to play along, too.

What a lovely boy. I have to admit, I smile whenever I see his gorgeous face. I have heard of twinks, but never used them. Love the shimmer. Something else to go on my list!

Great use of your un pigmented crayons. I love playing with crayons and they do make a fab resist. Cute Bleubeard and dymo, another use it up thing, stash busting at it's best. xox
