Paris in my 7 Continents AB

It's been awhile since I worked in my 7 Continents altered book.  I call it the oldest UFO or unfinished object I have.  Started as a swap project with 14 other players in 2005, I went on to tip these pages into a Physician's Desk Reference (PDR).  When the book fell apart because I dropped it down a flight of stairs, I looked for ways to salvage it.  After lamenting about it for nearly two years, my friend Kathy's husband drilled holes in the pages so I could add them to a 3-ring binder.  That got me back on track, but I quickly lost interest when I became overwhelmed with "too much stuff."  In fact, I have three large tubs of "stuff" I eventually sorted.

Prior to this sorting, I had focused on a single continent at a time.  Once I got back on track, I decided that whatever I picked up, or whatever inspired me, I would work on, regardless the continent.  You can see other pages here, here, and here.

Once again, I started with a page from my PDR as the background, over which I added gesso and some blue pigment ink.  To that I added as many images of Paris as I could find.

The three detail shots above show I gathered Paris memories from various books and magazines.

The back side's images came mainly from a craft magazine, while part came from other fodder, including scrapbook paper, sheet music, and the word "love" I kept from a paper bag I originally used in my Collage AB.  The background was swiped with gesso and pink pigment ink.

Three more detail scans show the second page close up.

Today is Day 6 of AEDM and I created two spreads in my 7 Continents altered book.  Are you keeping up?

This is gorgeous, I love all the vintage papers. I know what you mean by too much stuff, I belong to a quilting group where none of the members have UFOs. They alays finish everything before they start something new. I, on the other hand am the group joke because I no longer count my UFOs because there are too many, lol

These are great! Love the dark edging around some of the pieces. Not sure if you inked before gluing or went in after but I like the look.

Tres chic! The Eiffel Tower is perfect with vintage themes, and I like the little touches you add such as postage stamps.

Love your pages! What a great project! I'm hanging in there so far, but it HAS been a challenge. Without it, I would not have been as good at "arting" every day, that's for sure!

Hello there, OMG, LOVE LOVE this sweet and inspiring journal. What a great idea to have one of these. This is filled with so many pretty and cool pieces. Anyone who wants to go there or has been there would love this too. My daughter Renee wants to go there one day, will have to show her this.
Really love your theme journal ideas, so awesome!
I'm linked up a little late today but still doing great with AEDM. I am sharing my next project on the blog today, hope you like it.
See you tomorrow.
