Flower Power

Today I've returned to my altered collage book for a little flower power.
A hodge podge of flowers were created from various found objects and book pages for today's AEDM entry.  (I'm not sure why these images won't enlarge, but they won't)  I began by painting some yellow, then green on the background, followed by white to knock some of the bold color down a bit.

A few detail shots include this Asian inspired group of flowers.  The flowers are free cut from a book page, while the stems are from the seal of a jar of Asian dipping sauce.  Nothing is off limits (or safe from use) in my altered books!

I used lines that showed through the paint from the original book page to write the words "Flower Power."

Those dreaded pop tops I can't seem to quit saving from Bleubeard's new food (I recently switched him from dry to canned food) turned into this flower, while a part of a security envelope became the stem.

On the right is a piece I cut from a tissue box, while on the left I used tea tags and strings to form the final flower and leaves.  Since this tea is not worth drinking, it is fun to see how I can use it in my art.

One final shot shows both flowers and the background I created.  I hope you got at least a smile out of this one.

Today I created a spread in my collage inspired altered book and
marked off Day 24 of AEDM.

So interesting to read this post and admire your 'altering'. I think you are the queen of re-cycling. Only this morning I was opening a tin of pineapple for breakfast and looked at the opening thingy (which I now can call a pop-top thingy), and thinking that there must be a use for that. I do remember using one, once only, on a collage of a bull's head years ago. I must look it out.
Thanks, as well as being interesting your post gave me some moments of memories.

It's so nice to see someone else saving what appears to normal people to be the oddest things! I hate to throw anything away because I know I can use it on SOMETHING! Looks wonderful and like you had fun!

Love this page! All the recycled or upcycled elements make it so interesting. Love your hand cut flowers...you are right...the white really pops against the green.

That is very clever. I am sure Bluebeard loves the change!

Clever recycling! Those pop top lid lifters make good picture hangers, too. Just glue or tack one to the back of a painting, works especially well on wood plaques or deep canvases. But, I would have never thought of making cool looking flowers with them. You are so creative!

Great recycled page. Wonderful to see all that green and all those imaginary flowers on such a cold and blustery day.

OMG!! You are a genius and so creative!! I LOOOOVE all these flowers, seriously so awesome! That can lid one is so cute, who would have thought to use them. I love that you recycle everything, trash to beautiful is what I call it. WOW, LOVE ALL OF IT!!

I did some cleaning on my scrap space today, yay!! Would have had fun making flowers instead though. At least it's clean and it feels good to be done with it now.
Hope your weekend was good! I'm going to post Mandala and T time together again, busy next 2 days then the kids are home on break.

Love the pages!!! You make me smile when you say "nothing is safe" !!! My hubs is always shaking his head at me over some of the things I save for art. His favorite saying this year is " You don't have enough days left in your life to use all the STUFF you have saved!" He just doesn't understand :)
