WOYWW 229: the one with a sneak peek and a reveal

I actually didn't plan to play today because I have some sort of stomach virus (or maybe I ate something that didn't like me, who knows?) that has kept me away from my computer and craft room.

I know how much our dear leader Julia at Stamping Ground likes to keep it short and sweet, so I'll do my best.  Today WOYWWendy is sitting in front of a project I'm working on for this month's Artist Reading Club (or ARC).  I wasn't sure I would have time to finish it, so prepared a smaller piece just in case.  And that is what this adorable gold and silver rocking horse gifted to me is hiding.  BTW, I am wearing a red top, and it appears the rocking horse has managed to pick up the color.

This is what Wendy was hiding last week.  It's an off cut of wood I sanded, gessoed, painted, then decorated.  I tried to turn the photos into a mosaic, but

the program didn't do a very good job.

I call this one The Elephant at the Door.  The elephant was made using some of my handmade paper pulp and dried inside a cookie cutter.

My friend Scott saved these bottle caps for me to use as the roof of the house.

Thanks for the visit.  The usual caveat applies.  If you came from Julia's, please include your number.  I will then be by to visit sometime this week, at least as soon as my tummy cooperates!

I got post! Thank you so much, it was perfectly timed for woyww as I didn't have anything else to show for it!
I love that elephant... he is wonderful!! Elephant at the door... as opposed to the elephant in the room? Love the project, the bottle caps are great as roof tiles!

Wow! This is an amazing project! And hand made paper! I've wanted to do that for ages! Do you have a press to flatten it in? It's raining so hard here it sounds as if it's beating on the doors to come in so it's hard to concentrate! Eek! I haven't done ARC since the time before last. Really must try to find time this week! Tis better to have an elephant at the door than "in the room". Hope you feel better soon. Hugs from Africa! #57

LOL! You see, I looked at the photo and without reading about it (yet) made the assumption it was some sort of multi-sided texture tool for the Gelli plate :) I thought "What a lot of trouble to go to, making it look pretty....and matching the bottle caps..." THEN I read and understood. The danger of flying visits to WOYWW desks - making a comment that reveals you didn't ACTUALLY read the post just looked at the photos. Not me!

Happy WOYWW!

I thought the elephant was mdf and you had been clever in cutting him out. What a good idea to use paper pulp.
Sorry to hear you are not feeling well, hope the bug soon disappears and you are back to normal.
Love to you and Bleubeard.

Hope the tummy bug is feeling better by now.I need a cookie cutter elephant style now! I have some paper mush I've had for MONTHS... I've been squeezing it (it's in a sealed plastic bag) every time I came in or go out of my crat room... so it's become a kind of a 'stress-ball'! I will look out for some of that red rosin paper, never would have known or even dreamt about it, if I hadn't been on WOYWW? this week!

Love the Rocking horse as always!
